10,000 extra people on dole in June

Dublin- An extra 10,000 people signed on the dole last month, according to the latest Live Register figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO says 217,400 people are now signing on, an increase of almost 55,000 in the past 12 months. Men account for most of the increase. The CSO says the standardised unemployment rate in June was 5.7%, compared to 5.4% in May.
