काठमांडू- संघिय लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र नेपालको प्रथम राष्ट्रपति तथा उपराष्ट्रपतिले सपथ ग्रहण लिई आ-आफ़्नो कार्यभार सम्हालेको उपलक्ष्यमा आज नेपाल सरकारले सार्बजनिक बिदा दिने निर्णय गरेको छ । नेपालको इतिहासमा पहिलोचोटी नेपालीका छोरा मुलुकको सर्बोच्च पदमा पुगेको खुशीयाली मनाउन सरकारले आज १ दिन बिदा दिने निर्णय गरेको हो । आज मुलुकभरि दिपावली गरी खुशीयाली मनाईने भएको छ ।

Irish Film Censor to get name change

Dublin- The Irish Film Censor's office will change its name today.
Following 85 years it will become the Irish Film Classification office
The Irish film censor has described it as an historic day which he welcomes.
John Kelleher says the new title for the office will reflect its current role.

New energy efficient grants for new homes

Dublin- The Irish Government's announced energy efficient grants for new homes which it says will be a welcome boost to the construction sector.
Energy Minister Eamon Ryan says nine million euro is being made available, while he also plans to increase grants for private individuals next year. Sustainable Energy Ireland has been given the responsibility of supporting builders who develop the most energy efficient homes in the country.
These homes will surpass even the most recent planning regulations on energy efficiency, and Minister Eamon Ryan says the grants will encourage such development. The Minister says he's also going to roll-out nationally next year a pilot scheme of grant aid for private individuals who decided to retrofit their homes to make them more energy efficient.

रामवरण पहिलो राष्ट्रपतिमा निर्वाचित

काठमांडू - धनुषा जिल्ला सपहीका ६१ वर्षीय डा. रामवरण यादव मुलुकको पहिलो राष्ट्रपति भएका छन् ।
जेठ १५ गते संविधानसभाको पहिलो बैठकले गणतन्त्र कार्यन्वयन घोषणा गरेपछि राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचनको प्रक्रिया औपचारिकरुपमा अघि बढेको हो तथा साउन ४ गतेको राष्ट्रपति र उप राष्ट्रपतिको चुनावमा राष्ट्रपतिका कुनै उमेदवारले जित्न आवश्यक २९८ मत ल्याउन नसकेपछि आज साउन ६ गते दोश्रो चरणको चुनाव भएको हो । राष्ट्रपतिमा बिजयी यादवले ३०८ मत ल्याए भने अर्का उमेदवार रामराजाप्रसाद सिंहले २८२ मत पाए । धनुषा जिल्ला सपहीका ६१ वर्षीय यादवले माओवादी, तराई मधेस लोकतान्त्रिक पार्टी र सदभावना गठवन्धनका रामराजाप्रसाद सिंहलाई पराजित गरेका हुन् । यादवलाई नेपाली कांग्रेस, एमाले र मधेसी जनअधिकार फोरमसहित साना दलको समर्थन प्राप्त थियो । यादव अहिले पनि नेपाली कांग्रेसका महामन्त्री हुन् ।
२०१७ सालको बिद्यार्थी आन्दोलनमार्फत नेपाली कांग्रेसको राजनीतिमा प्रवेश गरेका यादवले चिकित्सा क्षेत्रमा एम डी गरेका छन् । २०४६ को जनआन्दोलनले सफलता पाउनुअघि सम्म यादव जनकपुरमै चिकित्सा पेसामा थिए । त्यसपछि पहिलो आम निर्वाचनमा उनी धनुषा क्षेत्र नम्बर ५ बाट सांसद निर्वाचित भए तथा नेपाली कांग्रेसको सरकारमा स्वास्थ्य राज्य मन्त्रीको जिम्मेवारी पाए । मधेसी मूलको भए पनि यादवले मधेसवादी दलहरुको प्रमुख माग एक मधेस प्रदेशप्रति सार्वजनिकरुपमै असहमति प्रकट गर्दै आएका छन् । यादवलाई नेपाली कांग्रेसका सभापति तथा प्रधानमन्त्री गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालाको निकट तथा बिश्वासपात्र मानिन्छ ।

10,000 extra people on dole in June

Dublin- An extra 10,000 people signed on the dole last month, according to the latest Live Register figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO says 217,400 people are now signing on, an increase of almost 55,000 in the past 12 months. Men account for most of the increase. The CSO says the standardised unemployment rate in June was 5.7%, compared to 5.4% in May.

काठमाडौं - सानो गौचरणको भगवती बहालमा एक युवतीको बलात्कारपछि हत्या गरिएको छ ।
हत्या गरिएकी युवती ओखलढुङ्गा घर भई काठमाडौं बस्दै आएकी कोपिला दाहाल भएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ । गएराती करिब नौ बजेतिर भगवती बहालस्थित ग्रील कारखानामा काम गर्ने कामदारहरुले दाहालको बलात्कार गरी हत्या गरेको हुनसक्ने प्रहरीले बताएको छ ।
हत्यामा संलग्न भएकाहरु मध्ये गोरखाका सिपबहादुर अछामीलाइ गरी अनुसन्धान गरीरहेको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ । साथै प्रहरीले सोही घटनामा संलग्न मृतककी साथीलाई पनि पक्राउ गरी अनुसन्धान भइरहेका जनाएको छ ।

हत्यामा संलग्न अन्य चार जना फरार रहेको बताइएको छ ।

No winner of €3.5m Lotto weekend jackpot

Dublin- There was no winner of last night's lotto jackpot which was worth nearly €3.5m. Wednesday's jackpot is now expected to be in excess of €4m.

IT company to create 15 jobs at Dublin HQ

Dublin- IT services company is to create 15 new jobs at its Dublin headquarters.
The first posts have already been filled by Typetec and the rest are expected to be created by next year. The jobs will increase the company's employee count by more than 30%. Tánaiste and Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan says Typetec is an excellent example of the type of innovative service that will grow Ireland’s technological base.

राष्ट्रपति चुनाव ४ गते

मुलुकको राष्ट्रपतिका लागि साउन ४ गते चुनाव हुने भएको छ । असार ३१ गते बसेको संविधानसभामा प्रतिनिधित्व गर्ने २५ दल सम्मिलित कार्यब्यवस्था परामर्श समितिको बैठकले साउन ४ गते बिहान ११ बजे राष्ट्रपति तथा उपराष्ट्रपतिको चुनाव गर्ने निर्णय गरेको हो । राष्ट्रपति तथा उपराष्ट्रपतिको चुनाव सम्बन्धि सबै कार्यक्रमहरु परामर्श समितिको बैठकले तयार पारिसकेको तथा आज दिउँसो ३ बजे हुने बिधायिका संसदको बैठकमा प्रस्तुत गरेर पारित गरिने एमाले संसदीय दलका प्रमुख सचेतक रामचन्द्र झाले जानकारी दिए । राष्ट्रपतिको चुनावमा संविधानसभाका ६०१ सदस्यले मत दिन पाउनेछन् ।

Row over call for minimum wage cut

Dublin- Calls for a €1 cut in the minimum wage were branded 'immoral' today.
The Small Firms Association (SFA) wants pay to drop to €7.65 an hour in a bid to curb rising dole queues. Director Patricia Callan said the National Minimum Wage (NMW) is also a major contributor to youth unemployment.
Last month more than 220,000 people claimed unemployment benefits, a jump of almost 20,000 from May. The last time the Live Register was this high was in August 1998.
“Ireland has lost the plot in terms of having a competitive labour market,” said Ms Callan.“Minimum wage comparisons are symptomatic of what Ireland has become – a high-cost, uncompetitive economy.
“If we continue in this way there is no future in Ireland for labour-intensive industries.”The Irish minimum wage is the second highest in Europe. Set at €8.65 per hour (€1,462 a month), it lags only behind Luxembourg where it is 1,570 euro a month.The hourly rate is more than twice that of the United States – the largest economy in the world – 9% higher than the UK, and 13 times that of Bulgaria.

Airport compensation dispute over

Pokhara - The dispute over the proposed international airport at Chinedanda of Pokhara Sub-metropolis has been resolving, thereby opening doors to speeding up works on the airport.
The dispute stretching over more than three decades came to an end after the Government provided Rs. 275 million in compensation for 56 ropanis of land.
It may be noted that the Government had encroached some 3,106 ropanis of land in order to construct an international airport in 1974. However, it could not materialize after some of the landlord refused to take the compensation provided by the government.
The dispute was resolved after the Ministry of Finance appropriated budget as proposed by a Committee constituted last year under the chairmanship of former MP Khagaraj Adhikari. RSS

ECB expected to raise interest rates today

The European Central Bank is expected to increase interest rates when it holds its regular monthly meeting today. The bank has already signalled that it plans to raise its main lending rates in an effort to tackle high inflation in the eurozone.
Commentators are predicting an increase of 0.25 percentage points, which would add around €45 a month to a 30-year mortgage worth €300,000. The news will not be welcomed by Irish mortgage-holders, who are currently paying the highest rates in seven years.

Gas leak disrupts traffic near Dublin Airport

A gas leak has caused traffic disruption near the new entrance road to Dublin Airport this morning.
Corbalis Road is partially blocked as a result of the leak and people travelling to the airport are being advised to allow extra time for their journey. Gardaí and Bord Gais repair crews are at the scene.

Acid spill prompts evacuation of Cork city premises

An acid spill at a chemical plant in Cork has forced the evacuation of premises on the city's Centre Park Road. Scores of workers have been asked to leave their buildings after the spill about 20 minutes ago at Gouldings Chemicals Ltd, gardaí have confirmed. The evacuation is "for safety reasons", according to a garda spokeswoman.
The emergency services are at the scene, but there are no reports of any injuries. Gardaí say they are trying to establish the cause of the spill and roads will remain closed until further notice. Motorists are being advised of severe traffic delays.
