Waiting for result in Lisbon Treaty Referendum
Dublin-
The outcome of the Lisbon Treaty referendum appears to be too close to call, with counting of votes set to get underway at 9am.
The results in the 43 constituencies will be communicated to the main count centre in Dublin Castle throughout the day, with a final result expected sometime in the afternoon.
Turnout is understood to be somewhere between 40% and 45%.
Observers had predicted that a turnout below 40% would favour the No camp, while a high turnout is likely to boost the Yes vote.
Turnout is believed to have been higher in urban areas than rural areas.
