Dublin- Sandbags have been put down on coastal areas around the capital-amid fears of flooding. A number of temporary road closures have also been announced.
High tides are expected along the east coast tonight, with waters set to rise in the following days.
The Irish Coastguard is advising people to stay away from coastal areas after warnings of severe gale force winds. And Met Eireann is warning drivers to expect difficult conditions on roads around the country.
