काठमाडौं- नेपालको सबभन्दा होचो स्थान झापा जिल्लाको केचना नभई धनुषा जिल्लाको मुसहरनिया भएको सम्बन्धित विज्ञले बताएका छन् । झापा जिल्लाको पूर्व दक्षिणमा भारतको सीमा नजिकै अवस्थित केचना गाविस औषत समुद्री सतहबाट ६२।५ मिटर उचाइमा रहेको नेपालको सबैभन्दा होचो भूभाग भनी २०४४ साल पुस १६ गते स्वर्गीय राजा वीरेन्द्रलाई अवलोकन गराइएको थियो ।
सर्भे इन्जिनियर नारायणकृष्ण न्हुच्छें प्रधानले सन् १९९६ मा नापी विभागअन्तर्गत नापी महाशाखाले फिनिस इन्टरनेशनल डेभलपमेन्ट एजेन्सी (फिनिडा) को सहयोगमा प्रकाशित टोपोग्राफिकल नक्सामा मुसहरनियाको उचाई ५९ मिटर रहेको बताउनुभयो । यसैले केचनाभन्दा ३.५ मिटर होचो मुसहरनिया नेपालको सबभन्दा होचो भूभाग हो भन्ने स्पष्ट छ । नेपाल-भारत सीमाको नापीमा लामोसमय सेवा गर्नुभएका नापी विभागका पूर्व उपमहानिर्देशक प्रधानले सन् १८१६ मा भएको सुगौली सन्धिअनुसार महाकाली नदीको उद्गमस्थल लिम्पियाधुरा हो भन्दै खोलाको अनुसन्धानबाट स्पष्ट हुने बताउनुभयो ।

Poor driving conditions in many areas
Dublin- Driving conditions are said to be extremely difficult in many parts of the country this morning due to the current spell of bad weather. Showers of snow, hail and sleet have hit many areas and motorists are being urged to drive with care. AA Roadwatch says conditions appear to be worst in Munster.

काठमाडौँ- माओवादी निकट नेपाल सिलाइ मजदुरले पूरा गर्न नसकिने माग राखेको भन्दै आज काठमाडौँका तीन सय भन्दा बढी टेलरिङ बन्द भएका छन् । मजदुरका माग हप्तैपिच्छे बढेको भन्दै टेलरिङ सञ्चालकले कारखाना बन्द गर्नुपरेको बताएका छन् । केही समय यता मजदुरले आठ सूत्रीय माग राखेर सञ्चालकलाई निरन्तर दबाब दिँदै आएका छन् । मजदुरले नियुक्तिपत्र दिनुपर्ने, सञ्चयकोष, दसैँपेस्कीलगायतका माग राखेका छन् । सिलाइ मजदुरका उपाध्यक्ष प्रेम दर्नालले आफना माग जायज रहेको बताएका छन् । उनले आफूहरू वार्ताबाटै समाधान निकाल्न आतुर रहेको बताए ।
Ferries off, drivers urged to take care due to storm in Ireland
Dublin-Motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads today following strong winds and rain overnight. All parts of the country were affected by the storm and drivers are being urged to watch out for fallen debris and flood water. Parts of Donegal and Wexford are understood to have been worst-hit.All Irish Ferries Swift sailings on the Dublin--Holyhead route have been cancelled for today due to the bad weather.

सभास्थल बाहिरको विस्फोटमा परेका प्रजिअ सिवाकोटीको बाया आखाको माथि बमको र्छरा गडेको छ । घाइतेहरूको नारायणी उपक्षेत्रीय अस्पताल र एडभान्स मेडिकेयर नर्सिङ होममा उपचार भइरहेको छ । ६ जनाको स्थिति गम्भीर रहेको अस्पतालले जनाएको छ ।

अमेरिकाको उत्तरी राज्य अलाबामाको हन्टसभ्यालीस्थित एक डीभीडी कम्पनीमा कार्यरत एक सयभन्दा बढी नेपाली दुई दिनदेखि सर्म्पर्कमा नआएको समाचार आजको कान्तिपुरले प्रकाशित गरेको छ ।
समाचारमा जनाईये अनुसार उनीहरू कामबाट कतै भागेका हुन सक्छन् वा के कति कारणले बाहिरिएका हुन् भन्ने थाहा पाउन दूतावास लागिपरेको छ,' वासिङटन डीसीस्थित नेपाली नियोगका उपप्रमुख कालीप्रसाद पोखरेलले फोनमा भने- 'हामीले पनि सञ्चार माध्यममा आएको खबरका आधारमा स्थिति अनुमान गरेका हौं, यसबारे दूतावासमा सूचना आएको छैन ।'

Report due on Polish smoking habits in Ireland
Dublin- A report on the smoking habits of Polish people living in Ireland will be launched today. The study into the prevalence of smoking in immigrants was carried out by the Research Institute for a Tobacco Free Society.
Some 100,000 Poles currently live and work in the country.Specialist Professor Luke Clancy, Minister for Integration Conor Lenihan, and Professor Witold Zatonski, an expert on Tobacco and Health in Poland, will be at the launch at the EU offices on Dublin’s Molesworth Street. Earlier this week, anti-smoking campaigners urged the Government to extend the ban to cars carrying children. Ash Ireland warned that youngsters are at serious risk from asthma and lung infections caused by cigarette smoke. The organisation said there is plenty of evidence to show passive smoking is harmful to children and called for smoking to be eventually outlawed in all vehicles.

Refugee groups meet to discuss Immigration Bill
Dublin-A number of groups working with migrants and refugees are meeting today to discuss their response to the Government's new Immigration Bill. The proposed legislation, published by Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan this week, has already been criticised by some immigrant rights groups. The Bill, if enacted, would make it easier for the Government to monitor and deport illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers. Mr Lenihan says the measures are needed to ensure the integrity of the immigration system, but critics say it is neither fair nor transparent.

उहाँ माओवादी पार्टीकातर्फबाट सिफारिसमा पर्नुभएका अस्टे्रलियाका लागि नेपालका पहिलो आवासीय राजदूत हुनुहुन्छ ।

Three deaths on the Irish roads in just 24 hours
Dublin- Three people have lost their lives on the roads in less than 24 hours. The latest victim is a 29 year old man who died in a crash in Kildare this morning. It happened on the N9 at Castledermot ... just before 8.30 this morning. Elsewhere, a 17 year old boy was killed when he lost control of his car in Drogheda, Co. Louth last night. And in Dublin, a man in his fifties died in an overnight crash in the Santry area.
Notice period for illegal immigrants to be removed
Dublin- The Government's planning to remove the notice period to illegal immigrants before they're deported. The move's contained in a new Immigration Bill just published by the Justice Minister. Currently a written notification is given, informing people they'll be deported in 15 days. Brian Lenihan says the new Bill also will allow long-term residence for migrants who make a contribution to society.
Currency fluctuations could impact Irish Tourism
Dublin- Currency fluctuations and the stock market roller-coaster could yet have a negative impact on the numbers holidaying in Ireland this year. 2007 was the best year on record for tourism - and a conference in Cork is being told that they can be cautiously optimistic about 2008. More money's being spent on overseas marketing campaigns, as well as on campaigns to encourage Irish people to holiday at home. Shaun Quinn, chief executive of Failte Ireland says international financial pressures could affect how much people spend when they're here.
Monaghan Hospital facing cuts in A&E services
Dublin- Life-saving accident and emergency services could be cut at Monaghan Hospital as part of proposed cost savings in north eastern health services, it was revealed today.
Radiologists and anaesthetists are among those facing the axe as part of draft plans to re-route emergency ambulances, a leaked memo from the Health Service Executive (HSE) said. Axed outpatients' clinics and surgeries contained in this year's plan will cause cancelled operations and longer waiting lists, Fine Gael health spokesman James Reilly said. "These proposals will have a knock-on effect on waiting lists for treatment and waiting times for access," he added. "They will also see cancellation of elective surgery continue." Once again in order to balance its books the HSE is sacrificing patient services while the burgeoning bureaucracy remains untouched."The number of beds across Monaghan Hospital would be reduced by 10 under the draft plan.The number of operations at Louth County Hospital will also fall.

PM Koirala appears at public function
KATHMANDU - Attending a public function after nearly three weeks of complete bed rest, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Tuesday called on all agitating groups to participate in the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections as he reiterated his commitment to hold polls on April 10.
“I appeal to my friends in Madhes and others to take part in the elections,” he said. “The onus lies on me to fulfill all your demands and I’ll fulfill them if they only say that they will take part in the elections. This is the message I want to send to all the Nepalis.”
The octogenarian leader attended a formal program at the Shaheed Gangalal National Heart Center only after taking permission from the Election Commission, considering the CA polls code of conductSmilingly, Prime Minister said he was present in a public event despite doctors’ advice since some politicians were trying to exploit the situation in the Terai in their interest.
During his 12-minute long statement, Prime Minister Koirala informed that he was fit and fine.
He complained that the press had exaggerated about his health condition.

बेहोस अवस्थामा भारतको सुनौलीस्थित बसपार्कमा भेटिएका ती बाबुछोरालाई भारतीय सुरक्षाकर्मीले रिक्सामा चढाएर नेपाल पठाएको बुझिएको छ । उनीहरुलाई यात्राको क्रममा नेपाली मूलको पहाडिया अनुहार भएको व्यक्तिले साथी बनाई नसालु पदार्थ ख्वाएको प्रहरीको भनाइ छ । बाबुछोरासँगै यात्रामा रहेका धादिङ फूलबारी-५ का ६० वर्षीय जङ्गबहादुर भुजेलको पनि भारतीय रुपैयाँ १६ हजार लुटिएको छ । ती तीनैजना बेलहियास्थित प्रहरीचौकीमा बेहोस अवस्थामा रहेका छन् । विगत चार महिनायता भारतबाट कमाई गरी नेपाल फर्कने क्रममा २२ जना नेपाली नसालु पदार्थ सेवन गरेपछि लुटिएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ ।

न्यायाधीशहरू बलराम केसी र तपबहादुर मगरको संयुक्त इजलासले काठमांडूस्थित चमती बस्ने १७ जनाविरुद्ध कैद र जरिवाना हुने फैसला गरेको हो । चमती बस्ने रामकृष्ण डंगोल, देवरत्न डंगोल, श्रीभद्र शर्मा, पूर्ण नारायण महर्जन, अशोकराज कोइराला, दिनेश महर्जन, नीलकण्ठ माली र रवि महर्जनले अदालतको अपहेलना गरेको ठहर गरिएको छ । यसै गरी ज्ञानेन्द्र महर्जन, तुयुभाइ महर्जन, रत्नकाजी महर्जन, मचाराजा महर्जन, मुकुन्द रिजाल, महेन्द्र थापा, मचाकाजी महर्जन, विष्णु श्रेष्ठ र पूर्णलाल श्रेष्ठले पनि अदालतको अपहेलना गरेको ठहर गरी तीन महिना कैदको फैसला गरिएको छ ।

Call to protect children from smoking in cars
Dublin- ASH Ireland has launched a campaign to ban smoking in cars carrying children aged under 16 years. The anti-smoking group says the policy is already in place in parts of Australia, US and Canada. The recently elected Chairperson of ASH Ireland, cardiologist Dr Angie Brown, claims that the effects of passive smoking in a car can be 23 times more toxic than a house.
She has appealed to parents that smoke to change their behaviour. ASH says the measure would be an integral part of the Government's aim to create a smoke-free society. ASH has written to Minister for Health Mary Harney to request a meeting on the issue and says it is hopeful progress can be made. It says children exposed to passive smoking are much more likely to develop asthma and lung infections than those who are not and the ban is solely designed to protect children.

iPods may be threat to teenagers' hearing, warns expert
Dublin- The hearing of teenagers could be jeopardised by the surging popularity of iPods and other earphone devices, an expert warned today. Ireland’s health problems are greater than the European average, with a generation at risk because of exposure to prolonged noise, audiologist Keith Ross added.
At least one in 10 of the general population experience difficulties, with victims left to guess words and struggling to cope in background noise. “Some of the figures are quite frightening, the proportion of people wearing earphones through their normal jobs or through listening to Walkmans and iPods,” Mr Ross said. This is hearing awareness week and new research showed 41% of adults aged over 15 were wearing earphones regularly, with 82% of 15-24 -year-olds frequent users.

Sixth SPA mass gathering in Nepalgunj today
NEPALGUNJ - The sixth joint-assembly organised by the ruling Seven Party Alliance (SPA) to publicise the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls is taking place in Nepalgunj on Monday.People and party members from Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Dang and other neighbouring districts are expected to attend the assembly taking place at the Tandon Rice Mill ground.
Leaders and members of the seven parties are entering the assembly venue with banners and party flags from the Puspalal chowk, Birendra chowk and Fultekra areas of Nepaljung. Dozens of buses have been sent to the village areas to ferry party activists and supporters to the assembly venue. The fifth assembly was successfully held in Janakpur on Saturday despite attempted disruptions from different agitating Madhesi groups and parties.

However, no such disruptions have been reported so far in Nepalgunj. About 3,000 security personnel have been mobilised to ensure security for the assembly, the district administration informed. The government has beefed up security in the wake of explosions and attempts to disrupt the assembly in Biratnagar and Janakpur. Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) is coordinating the Nepalgunj assembly. NWPP leader Narayan Man Bijukchhe, CPN-Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara and CPN-UML leader Bamdev Gautam among others are due to address the assembly. The SPA had decided to hold joint ass emblies in seven different cities of the country to campaign for the CA polls slated for April 10.
Restricted drivers to be affected in UK and Ireland
Dublin- Motorists who are banned from getting behind the wheel in the UK will soon be disqualified from driving in Ireland - and vice versa. It's part of a new plan to be announced later today. However according to today's Irish Independent, a deal to shut the loophole which allows drivers from the North who are caught speeding in the Republic to escape penalty points - has got bogged down in legal issues, and is unlikely to be resolved for at least another year.

काठमाडौँ-माइक्रोबसले तीनवटा स्कुटरलाई ठक्कर दिएको घटनापछि अवरुद्ध बनेको साँखु क्षेत्रको यातायात आज बिहानदेखि सुचारु बनेको छ । बा१ख ९५९८ नम्बरको माइक्रोबसले तीनवटा स्कुटरलाई ठक्कर दिँदा तीन स्कुटर चालक घाइते भएका थिए । सो घटनापछि आक्रोशित स्थानीय बासिन्दाले सडक अवरुद्ध तुल्याएका थिए । सो घटनापछि शालीनदीमा मेला भर्न गएका तीथालु बिचल्लीमा परेका थिए।यही माघ ८ गतेदेखि शालीनदीमा लागेको मेलामा जाने तीथालुको सङ्ख्या हिजो निकै बढी थियो । अत्यधिक गतिमा गुडेको माइक्रोबसको ठक्करबाट भएका घाइतेको साँखुकै स्थानीय अस्पतालमा उपचार भइरहेको बताइन्छ । अवरुद्ध सडक आज बिहानदेखि सुचारु भएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ ।

€200k heroin seized in Dublin search
Dublin-Heroin with a potential street value of €200,000 has been seized in Dublin's south inner city. The find was made following a planned search of the Meath Market / South Earl Street area.No arrests have been made.
Dublin property prices down 27%
Dublin- Dublin has suffered the worst hits to the property market, with house prices falling by up to 27% in the past year alone. The Sunday Times property survey has shown that the most expensive areas like Dalkey and Killiney were the worst affected, with prices plummeting by as much as €2m. Most counties saw house prices falling by up to 11%, but Donegal, Westmeath and Killarney saw prices increasing over the past 12 months.

काठमाडौं - नेपालका लागि भारतका राजदूत शिवशंकर मुखर्जीले नेपालको तर्राईमा उत्पन्न समस्या समाधान गर्न नेपाली नेता र जनता नै सक्षम भएको बताउनुभएको छ। ५९औं गणतन्त्र दिवसका अवसरमा शनिबार भारतीय दूतावासमा आयोजित कार्यक्रमपछि सञ्चारकर्मीहरूसँग कुरा गर्दै उहाँले यो समस्या समाधानका लागि सबैखाले सहयोग प्रदान गर्न भारत तयार रहेको समेत बताउनुभयो।नेपालले धेरै समस्या बेहोर्नुपरिरहेको र तर्राई त्यसको एक भाग भएको बताउ“दै भारतीय राजदूतले नेपालको आग्रहअनुसार सहयोग गरिने धारणा राख्नुभयो । उहाँले नेपाल र भारतबीचका ९९ प्रतिशत सीमा समस्या यसअघि नै टुंगो लागिसकेको उल्लेख गर्नुभयो । यसअघि आयोजित कार्यक्रममा राजदूतले भारत सरकारका तर्फाट नेपालका विभिन्न निकायलाई एम्बुलेन्स, जेनेरेटर र पुस्तक प्रदान गर्नुभएको थियो । काठमाडौंस्थित भारतीय दूतावासका अनुसार ३० एम्बुलेन्स, ४० केभीए क्षमताका ट्रलीजडित १२ डिजेल जेनेरेटर र पुस्तकहरू नेपालका विभिन्न संघसंस्थालाई उपलब्ध गराइएको छ ।

Restaurant 23 in Warrenpoint, Co Down was awarded a Bib Gourmand award.
Overall, there was no change in the three star awards with the Fat Duck and Waterside Inn - both in Berkshire - along with Gordon Ramsey in Chelsea retaining their top status. This year's guide includes 15 new one star restaurants. Making up the list of 'Rising Stars' for 2008 are five establishments tipped for one star and three that are tipped for two stars. There are also 33 new Bib Gourmand establishments.

220 jobs to go at Dublin biscuit factory
Dublin- 220 jobs are to be lost at Jacob Fruitfield, formerly Irish Biscuits, on the Belgard Road in Tallaght by March 2009. The announcement was made by the company chief executive at a staff meeting this afternoon. All biscuit production will cease at the plant by that date. The job losses are all in the manufacturing side of the business. The company makes approximately 10,000 tonnes of biscuits a year at the plant. The staff were told the company is making €10m available for retraining staff to find alterative employment.

स्ववियु निर्वाचन फागुन १६ गते
काठमाडौं-त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालयले स्वतन्त्र विद्यार्थी युनियन (स्ववियु) को निर्वाचन यही फागुन १६ गते गर्ने निर्णयागरेको छ । त्रिवि कार्यकारी परिषद्को अस्ति बुधबार बसेको बैठकले सो निर्णयागरेको हो । चुनावको मिति निश्चित गरे तापनि अनेरास्ववियु (क्रान्तिकारी) ले स्ववियुसम्बन्धी नियमावली परिवर्तन नगरेसम्म चुनाव गर्न नहुने जनाएको छ । शाहीकालकै नियमावलीअनुसार चुनाव गराइए सहभागी हुनेछैनौं’, क्रान्तिकारीका महासचिव हिमाल शर्माले भन्नुभयो- नियमावली परिवर्तन गर्नुपर्छ, त्यसपछि मात्र चुनावमा सहभागी हुन्छौं ।’

M50 Lucan blockage is cleared
Dublin- The M50 southbound crash has been cleared and traffic is beginning to move, but delays will take some time to clear. The motorway had been completely blocked by a six-vehicle collision at the Coldcut Bridge, just after Junction 7 at Lucan. Delays stretched back to Junction 4 at Ballymun. Emergency services had difficulties getting through the traffic jam.

New lap-dancing club opens in Kilkenny today
Kilkenny- Kilkenny's first pole and lap-dancing club will open today despite widespread opposition from local politicians, gardai and members of the public. Whispers Entertainment was granted an ad interim licence this week at Kilkenny district court. Male and female dancers from Ireland and other EU countries will pole and lap dance upstairs in the Parliament street premisis formerly known as the Widows.
Deal reached on new contract for hospital consultants
The long-running negotiations over a new contract for hospital consultants appear to be over after the emergence of a deal last night following years of talks.Under the agreement, consultants who work exclusively in public hospitals will receive salaries of up to €240,000.The Irish Hospital Consultants Association says it will now put the deal to its members, but is confident of a positive outcome.The negotiations began in an effort to get public hospital consultants to work more flexible hours and to accept restrictions on their rights to engage in private practice.Minister for Health Mary Harney has welcomed the deal reached last night and says she hopes consultants attached to the Irish Medical Organisation will also sign up to the agreement.
Six-car pile-up causes traffic chaos on Dublin's M50
Dublin- A six-car pile-up has caused traffic chaos on the M50 motorway in Dublin- this morning।The crash, which happened just before 6.30am near Lucan, has completely blocked the southbound section of the motorway, causing tailbacks of several kilometres.The northbound section has also been reduced to just one lane to allow the emergency services get access to the scene.Motorists are being advised to completely avoid the area at all costs and to expect delays on all commuter routes that connect with the M50.It is unclear if anyone was killed or seriously injured in the crash.

नेपाली काङ्ग्रेसले प्रहरी लगाएर ज्यादती गरेको भन्दै आज तर्राईमा सङ्र्घष्रत केही सङ्गठनले जनकपुर बन्द गरेका छन् । बन्दकर्ता मधेसी जनाधिकार फोरम र संयुक्त लोकतान्त्रिक तर्राई मुक्तिमोर्चालगायतका सङ्घ-संस्थाले जनकपुरका प्रमुख चोकमा बिहानैदेखि टायर बालेर प्रदर्शन गरिरहेका छन् ।
आज बिहानैदेखि नै जनकपुरका जिरोमाइल, रामानन्दचोक बिडारी चोकलगायतका ठाउँमा प्रदर्शनकारीले टायर बालेर पर््रदर्शन गरिरहेका छन् । आजको बन्दमा शिक्षण संस्थाका साधन भने चलाउन दिने बन्द आ≈वानकर्ताले बताएका छन् । हिजो नेपाली काङ्ग्रेसका उपसभापति सुशील कोइराला र काङ्ग्रेस महामन्त्री विमलेन्द्र निधिले जनकपुरमा गरेको कार्यकर्ता भेटघाटका बेला तर्राईमा आन्दोलनरत पार्टी गरेको प्रदर्शनमा प्रहरीले व्यापक लाठीचार्ज र अश्रुग्याँस प्रहार गरी ज्यादती गरिएको उनीहरूले बताएका छन् । यसैबीच तर्राईमा आन्दोलन गर्दैआएका मधेसी जनअधिकार फोरम, सद्भावना महतोको समूहले हिजोदेखि शैक्षिक संस्था बन्द र सरकारी कार्यालयमा तालाबन्दी सुरु गरेका छन् ।माघ महिनाभरि तर्राईमा जुलुस, चक्काजामलगायतका कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन गर्ने घोषणा गरेका ती समूहले हिजोदेखि मोरङका सम्पूण शैक्षिक संस्था ठप्प तुल्याएका छन् ।

कलङ्कीमा ग्याँस सिलिन्डर विस्फोट, तीन घाइते
काठमाडौँ- आज बिहान कलङ्कीस्थित खड्का गाउँमा ग्याँस सिलिन्डर फेर्ने क्रममा ग्याँस विस्फोट हुँदा तीन जना घाइते भएका छन् । माधव खड्काको घरमा बिहान भएको उक्त विस्फोटमा परी रेजिना श्रेष्ठ, सुरेश भण्डारी र मीना सुवेदी घाइते भएका छन् । घाइते तीनै जनालाई उपचार्रार्थ अस्पताल लगिएको छ। घाइतेमध्ये रेजिनाको अवस्था गम्भीर रहेको छ । ग्याँस सिलिन्डर विस्फोट भएको कोठाको भ\mयालका सिसा पूरै फुटेका छन् ।
पम्पले डिजेल र मट्टीतेल बेचेनन
काठमाडौँ- पेट्रोल पम्पले बढी मूल्यमा खरिद गरेको डिजेल र मट्टीतेलको रकम फिर्ता नपाएको भन्दै आज बिहानदेखि नै ती पदार्थ बेचेका छैनन् । सरकारले पेट्रोलियम पदार्थमा गरेको मूल्यवृद्धि चर्को विरोधपछि हिजो फिर्ता लिएको छ तर बिक्रेताले निगमबाट बढी मूल्यमा खरिद गरेको डिजेल र मट्टीतेलको मूल्य आयल निगमले फिर्ता दिन आनाकानी गरेको नेपाल पेट्रोलियम डिलर एसोसिएसनले जनाएको छ ।
एसोसिएसनका अध्यक्ष शिवप्रसाद घिमिरेले बिक्रेताबाट लिएको बढी मूल्य फिर्ता गर्न निगमले आनाकानी गरेकाले आज सम्पूण पम्पले डिजेल र मट्टीतेल बिक्री नगरेको बताउनुभयो । तर पेट्रोल भने सबै पम्पबाट नियमित रूपमा बिक्री भइरहेको बताइएको छ । आज बिहानैदेखि राजधानीका पम्पमा सवारीसाधनको लाइन लागे पनि गाडीवालाले डिजेल भने पाउन सकेनन् । निजी पम्पले डिजेल छैन भनी बोर्ड झुन्ड्याएका थिए भने साझा, सैनिक र प्रहरीका पम्पबाट मात्रै डिजेल वितरण गरिएको देखिन्थ्यो । चर्को विरोधपछि डिजेल, मट्टीतेल र ग्याँसको मूल्यवृद्धि फिर्ता भएको छ तर बजारमा ती वस्तुको अभाव भएको पाइएको छ ।

Ryanair increases baggage and airport check-in charges
Dublin- Ireland's budget airline Ryanair increased check-in charges today as it continued its drive for passengers to carry hand luggage and use online services. The Dublin-based operator, which flies to 26 European countries, has increased its online fee for placing items in the plane's hold to nine euro per bag.
Passengers who check in at the airport rather than online will also have to pay €4, rather than the €3 previously. Ryanair warned they will not be the last such price rises as the airline tries to persuade at least half of all passengers to travel with just hand baggage and check-in via the web. Company spokesman Peter Sherrard said: ``Ryanair remains determined to encourage more and more passengers to travel with carry on luggage only.
``These increased charges will incentivise even more passengers to use our free web check-in service allowing us to cut airport and handling costs and further reduce our guaranteed lowest fares as we grow from 50 million to 60 million passengers in the coming year.''

पेट्रोलियम पदार्थको मूल्यवृद्धि फिर्ता
काठमाडौं- नेपाल आयल निगमले गत सोमवार वढाएको पेट्रोलियम पदार्थको मूल्य आज फिर्ता लिएको छ । मन्त्रिपिरषदको आज वसेको अनौपचारिक वैठकले दिएको निर्देशन वमोजिम आयल निगमले मूल्य वृद्धि फिर्ता लिएको हो । मूल्यवृद्धिको विरोधमा आम जनता र विद्यार्थी सडकमा उत्रिएपछि सरकार मूल्यवृद्धि फिर्ता लिन वाध्य भएको हो । निगमले मूल्यवृद्धि फिर्ता लिएपछि अव ग्राहकले पुरानै मूल्यमा पेट्रोलियम पदार्थ पाउनेछन् । मन्त्रीपरिषदको वैठकले जनचाहना वमोजिम भन्दै मूल्यवृद्धि फिर्ता लिने निर्णय गरेको हो । आयल निगमको घाटा पूर्ती गर्नका लागि अन्य वैकल्पीक उपाय निकालिने निर्णय भएको आपूर्तीमन्त्री श्यामसुन्दर गुप्ताले जानकारी दिनुभयो । निगमलाइ तत्काल तीन अर्व रुपैयाँ अर्थ मन्त्रालयले निकासी दिने पनि आजै निर्णय भएको छ । वैठकमा अर्थमन्त्री रामशरण महत, उद्योग वाणिज्य तथा आपूर्तीमन्त्री श्यामसुन्दर गुप्ता, सुचना तथा संचारमन्त्री कृष्णवहादुर महरा, स्थानीय विकाशमन्त्री देव गुरुङ लगायतको सहभागीता रहेको थियो ।

नेपाललगायत तेस्रो मुलुकका अधिकांश युवाको जीवनमा एउटा सपना हुन्छ। त्यो हो युके तथा अमेरिका र अष्ट्रेलियामा गुणस्तरीय शिक्षा हासिल गर्ने। यो चलन तेस्रो देशमा मात्र नभई हङकङजस्तो सम्पन्न शहरमा व्याप्त पनि छ। हङकङमा नेट शिक्षकको माग छ। नेट शिक्षक हुनका लागि कुनै पनि व्यक्तिले कि त ब्रिटिश, अष्टे्रलिया वा अमेरिकामा अध्ययन गरेको हुनुपर्छ कि भने अंग्रेजी मातृभाषी हुनुपर्छ। कतिपय ब्रिटेन, अमेरिकातिर गएर अध्ययन गरेका चिनियाँ, भारतीय वा नेपालीहरू समेत अहिले हङकङमा नेट शिक्षकका रूपमा कार्यरत छन्। तिनीहरूको तलब तथा सुविधा पनि स्थानीय शिक्षकको दाँजोमा कैयौं गुणा बढी हुन्छ। नेट शिक्षकको माग हङकङमा मात्र होइन, कोरिया, जापान, मलेशिया, चीनलगायत ब्राजिल तथा मध्यपूर्वी देशहरूमा पनि उच्च रहेको छ। नेट शिक्षकका लागि हङकङ सरकारले त एउटा छुट्टै कानून नै तयार पारेर स्थानीय विद्यालयमा हजारौं नेट शिक्षक नियुक्त पनि गरेको छ। तर, विश्वभरि भाषा, प्रविधि वा गुणस्तरीय शिक्षाको नाममा जनशक्ति निर्यात गर्ने ब्रिटेनजस्तो देशमा तेस्रो मुलुकका नागरिकहरूलाई ठगी गरिन्छ भन्दा शायद कमैले पत्याउलान्। अहिले युकेमा सैयौं शैक्षिक संस्था छन्। जसले शिक्षाको नाममा एउटा कागजको खोस्टो मात्र हात पारिदिन्छन्। कम्प्युटरको माध्यमबाट अनलाइनमा ती संस्थाहरूको जानकारी हेर्योम भने आकर्षक वेभसाइटहरू बनाएर बसेका छन्। उनीहरूको विश्वविद्यालयमा अध्यापन गराउने प्राध्यापकहरू पनि अति आकर्षक रूपमा प्रस्तुत गरिएको हुन्छ। यो कुनै तेस्रो मुलुकका मानिसले भनेका होइनन्। ब्रिटेनको गार्जियन पत्रिकामा एकजना लेखिकाले दिएको जानकारी हो यो। उनकाअनुसार ब्रिटेनमा दशकभन्दा बढी समयदेखि सञ्चालित आइरिस अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विश्वविद्यालय (आईआईयू) नामको संस्थासमेत यो कित्तामा परेको छ। पूर्वी एशियाको क्वालालम्पुरदेखि मोनाकोसम्म आफ्नो कर्मचारी राखेको यसले विगत एक दशकभन्दा बढी समयदेखि विश्वका विभिन्न देशका विद्यार्थीलाई यूरोपका कुनै पनि देशमा मान्य नहुने शैक्षिक प्रमाणपत्रहरू बेच्दै आइरहेको छ। ब्रिटिश तथा अमेरिकी शिक्षा तेस्रो देशका विद्यार्थीका लागि अति नै महङ्गो मानिन्छ। तर, आईआईयूले अन्य विश्वविद्यालयभन्दा सस्तोमा डिग्री कोर्शहरू उपलब्ध गराएको प्रचार गरी विदेशी विद्यार्थीलाई झुक्याउने गरेको छ। यी कलेज तथा कथित विश्वविद्यालयमा वर्षको एकपटक स्थानीय गोराहरूलाई प्राध्यापकको गाउन (च्भनबष्बि) मा विद्यार्थीसँग फोटो खिच्न लगाइन्छ। बीबीसीको एक अनुसन्धानमा दिइएअनुसार ब्रिटेनमा यस्ताखाले नक्कली कलेज र विश्वविद्यालयको संख्या सैयौंको संख्यामा छ। जसका वेभसाइटहरू आकर्षक हुने भए पनि विश्वविद्यालयको भवन भने साना खुद्रा पसल थाप्नेजस्ता कोठाहरू हुन्छन्। कलेज तथा विश्वविद्यालयको हवाला दिने यस्ता नक्कली संस्थाका मान्यताप्राप्त संस्थाका जस्ता लाइबे्ररी, ल्याबोरेटरी तथा खेलमैदान त हुने कुरै भएन। अझ कतिपयका त अध्ययन कक्षाहरू समेत हुँदैनन्। विदेशी पैसा विनिमय गर्ने क्यासियर रुम मात्र हुन्छन्। यस्ता कलेज तथा विश्वविद्यालयको जालमा परी विश्वको कैयन देशका विद्यार्थीले लाखौं रकम स्वाहा पारेका छन्। उनीहरूले मान्यता प्राप्त प्रमाणपत्र त परै जाओस् आफूले अपेक्षा गरेबमोजिम ज्ञानसमेत हासिल गर्न सकेका छैनन्। ब्रिटिश सरकारले भने यस्ता कलेज तथा विश्वविद्यालयलाई बन्द गराउनेतर्फ कुनै पहलकदमी चालेको देखिँदैन। हुन त कतिपय नेपाली पनि यसखाले कलेजमा जानीजानी भर्ना हुने गरेको पाइन्छ। हङकङबाट सात वर्षअघि युके गई फेरि हङकङ फर्केका कमल थापाका अनुसार उनले युकेमा स्टुडेन्ट भीसा लिएर काम गर्नका लागि त्यसखाले कलेजमा भर्ना गरेका थिए। र, उक्त कलेजले वर्षेनी उनलाई विद्यार्थीको प्रमाणपत्र दिने गर्दथ्यो। तर, उनले उक्त कलेजमा कहिल्यै कुनै प्रकारको कोर्श अध्ययन गरेनन्। नेपालबाट जाने कैयन मानिस युकेमा काम गर्नकै लागि भए पनि यसखाले कलेजको सहारा लिने गर्छन्। किनकि सक्कली र प्रतिष्ठित कलेज वा विश्वविद्यालयमा भर्ना हुँदा रकम बढी तिर्नुपर्ने, साथमा नियमित रूपमा हाजिर हुनु र वर्षको अन्त्यमा परीक्षा दिनुपर्ने झन्झट। यसो हुनुमा नेपालीको आफ्नै समस्या पनि होला। खासमा युकेमा गई तीन चार वर्ष नियमित अध्ययन गर्नसक्ने कमै नेपाली हुन्छन्। त्यसैले अध्ययनको नाममा युके छिरेपछि उता पुगेर पैसा कमाउनु तिनको धन्दा हुन्छ। वास्तविक रूपमा ज्ञान आर्जन खोज्ने तथा खर्च थेग्नसक्ने मानिसहरू कतिपय अवस्थामा यस्ताखाले कलेजको फन्दामा परेका छन्। युके अध्ययन गर्न जानका लागि शुरुमा दश लाख बराबरको रकम पेल्नुपर्ने हुन्छ। नेपालजस्तो गरिब मुलुकका विद्यार्थीका लागि एकैपटक दशौं लाख रकम फस्नु भनेको जिन्दगी बर्बाद हुनु हो। पैसाको नोक्सानीका साथै समयको बर्बादी। कसैले नक्कली प्रमाणपत्र पत्ता लगायो भने भन्ने त्रास उत्तिकै। त्यसैले युके अध्ययन गर्ने सपना बोकेका युवायुवतीले रकम फसाउनुअघि राम्ररी अध्ययन गर्नु आवश्यक देखिन्छ। इन्टरनेटमा पाइने आकर्षक विज्ञापनहरूको भन्दा पनि वास्तविक रूपमा तिनीहरूको चरीत्र पत्ता लगाउनुपर्दछ। यसका लागि ब्रिटिश राजदूतावास वा ब्रिटिश काउन्सिलको वेभसाइटमा दिइएका विश्वविद्यालयका लिष्ट हेर्न सकिनेछ। आजकल एजुकेसन इन युके नामक पुस्तक पनि बजारमा पाइन्छ। सोबाट आवश्यक जानकारी लिन सकिन्छ। यत्रतत्र खुलेका शैक्षिक कन्सल्ट्यान्टहरूको फत्तुरमा नलागी केही समय धैर्य बनेर स्वअध्ययन गर्यो भने वास्तविक अध्ययनका लागि ब्रिटेन जान चाहने विद्यार्थीले धेरै जानकारी हासिल गर्न सक्छन्। तर, अध्ययन गर्न झन्झट मानेर वा हतारमा निर्णय गरेमा परिनेछ तिनै नक्कली कलेजको फन्दामा।

World bids farewell to Sir Hillary
Dublin- Mount Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary Tuesday was laid to rest amidst thousand of mourners at Auckland, New Zealand. About 500 national and international dignitaries and diplomats from the U.K., U.S., Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, Nepal, Russia, Tonga among others joined the Hillary family at a state funeral in St. Mary’s Anglican Church.
Five Sherpas placed traditional prayer scarves on Hillary’s flag-draped coffin. After scaling Everest with mountain guide Tenzing Norgay in May 1953, Hillary had spent more than 40 years working to aid Nepal’s development. Sir Edmund Hillary died of a heart stroke on January 11 at the age of 88.

Restaurant sector enjoys strongest start-up growth
Dublin- The restaurant sector experienced the strongest growth in start-up businesses last year, according to figures published today by Bank of Ireland. The bank says more than 18,700 new companies were formed in 2007, a slight fall on the figure for the previous year. The largest numbers of new firms were in the construction and retail sectors, but the restaurant sector enjoyed the strongest proportional growth. More than 500 new restaurants opened during the year, an increase of one-third on the figure for 2006. Elsewhere, Dublin remained the most popular location for new businesses, with almost 7,000 opening in the capital last year, but significant growth was also recorded in the satellite towns of Louth and Kildare.
Asthma website launched to support sufferers
Dublin- Vital advice and support will be at the touch of a button for almost half a million asthma sufferers across Ireland, it emerged today. The Asthma Society of Ireland has re-launched its website to provide up-to-date information on asthma triggers, medicines, treatment, and best practice management in the event of an asthma attack. New features include a section for parents with children suffering from asthma and for teachers who may have students with asthma in their class. The website – www.asthmasociety.ie – also boasts a separate section, entitled 'Airplay', dedicated to educating children with asthma in a fun, child friendly way.

Massive hike in prices of diesel, kerosene, LPG
KATHMANDU - The government Monday considerably hiked the prices of diesel, kerosene and the cooking gas as part of its ongoing efforts to aid repayment of dues to the Indian oil supplier in order to end the festering fuel shortage in the country. As per the revised rate, diesel will now cost Rs 61 and 30 paisa per liter up from Rs 56 and 25 paisa.
Similarly, the revised rate for kerosene is Rs 61 up from Rs 51. However, the government will continue to provide subsidised kerosene, which is the cooking fuel for many of the lower-middle and lower classes. It may also be noted that there is only 30 paisa difference between prices of diesel and kerosene so that adulteration could be averted. Likewise, the LP Gas will now cost Rs 1,250 per cylinder up from Rs 1100.
However, the price of LPG cylinder for the Terai belt from Jhapa to Rupandehi has been fixed for Rs 1,230. The state-run Nepal Oil Corporation has stated that it will still incur a loss worth Rs 230 in per cylinder of LPG and Rs 6 and 8 paisa in diesel despite the latest price hike, notwithstanding hike in the price of petrol in December last year (for the second time in less than two months).

काठमांडू - राजधानीमा चलेको हल्ला बिपरित प्रधानमन्त्रीको स्वास्थ्य सुधार भएको छ । माघ ५ देखि अस्वस्थ्य रहेका प्रधानमन्त्री गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालाको स्वास्थ्य स्थिति क्रमश सुधार हुँदै गएको छ । माघ ८ गते बिहान प्रधानमन्त्रीले प्रधानमन्त्री निवास बालुवाटारमा केही आफन्तसँग कुराकानी पनि गरेको श्रोत बताउछ । श्रोतका अनुसार, प्रधानमन्त्री अहिले कुर्सीमा बसेर कुरा गर्नसक्ने अवस्थामा पुगेका छन् । उभिन र हिड्न भने प्रधानमन्त्री अझै सक्ने अवस्थामा छैनन् ।

Hindus gather to celebrate harvest festival
Dublin- Dramatic Punjab folk dance, sparkling traditional costumes and chants are just some of the ways the Hindu harvest festival was celebrated in Dublin at the weekend. Almost 300 Hindus gathered in Dundrum on Saturday night to celebrate Makar Sankrant, Lohri and Pongal feasts.
The last census recorded a doubling of the number of Hindus in Ireland to over 6,000. However, Sudhansh Verma, general secretary of the fledgling Hindu Cultural Centre Ireland, estimates that there are actually about 15,000 Hindus in Ireland. Most are IT and healthcare professionals who have migrated from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal, he explains.
Within two years, the centre hopes to set up a venue where Hindus can practice their religious and cultural traditions, as there is currently no Hindu temple here. Mr Verma says such a centre is particularly important for Hindu children who are growing up in Ireland and one focus of the centre will be to help to develop their social and spiritual values.
Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore, wearing a tilaka on his forehead and a garland around his neck, opened the celebrations by lighting the diya candle at a brightly coloured Ganesh shrine. Mr Gilmore said the event reminded him of many St Patrick’s Day festivals for Irish immigrant communities abroad.
Following performances of the Punjab gidda dance and traditional Irish dancing, Mr Gilmore remarked on similarities between Irish and Hindu cultures, noting that while Irish dance is from the hip-down, Hindu dance is from the hip-up. Priests from England and Northern Ireland chanted and prayed in English and Hindi. One of the priests, Vihari Sharan, explained that Makar Sankrant marks a period when the sun travels north and is an auspicious time for Hindus and marks a new beginning. Pongal is a four-day harvest celebration in southern India.

On that occasion, six Nepalese people Dr. Keshav Bhattarai, Mrs. Bandana Bhattarai, Krisha Bhattarai, Deepesh Man Sakya, Kabita Shakya and Sangita Basnet also represented from Nepal Ireland Society. Among them Krisha participated on fancy dress competetion and Sangita performed in punjabi songs.

Parents protest over rats in Cork school
Cork- Parents of pupils from a County Cork primary school are to protest this morning over a rat infestation at the school. Rahan National School near Mallow shut down for three days last week after evidence of rats was found in the school's two pre-fab buildings.
The school was due to reopen today, but parents have said they will not be sending their children to class. The Department of Education is considering providing emergency accommodation for teachers and students. The Department of Education is already processing an application from the school to build new premises.

Miscarriage risk increases with coffee - US Research
Dublin- It's feared just two cups of coffee a day can double the risk of miscarriage. Research in the US has found high doses of caffeine during pregnancy make it more likely mothers will lose their babies. Around five cups of tea or too much cola has the same effect.

Dublin- The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) has welcomed today’s launch of a website which gives information on what grants are available to students as well as support structures that students can avail of while at their chosen college.
The website, www.studentfinance.ie launched by the Higher Education Authority combines all information a prospective student needs and is intended to make the process of sourcing college funding much easier. USI Education Officer Peter Mannion said: “On the website you’ll find out more about your entitlements, and step-by-step instructions for applying for the grant and other support schemes". "Students are often eligible for more financial supports than they realize," he added.

काठमाडौं- शुक्रबार रातिको वर्षा लगत्तै देशका विभिन्न भागमा हिमपातका कारण जनजीवन प्रभावित बन्न पुगेको छ । त्रिभुवन राजपथको दामन, पालुङ, सिमभन्ज्याङ र आघोर गाउँमा शनिबार अपराह्नदेखि हिउँ पर्न थालेको इलाका प्रहरी कार्यालय, पालुङले जनाएको छ । हिमपातका कारण ती गाउँमा जाडो बढेको र त्यसबाट स्थानीय जनजीवनमा प्रतिकूल प्रभाव परेको जनाइएको छ । यसै गरी इलाम, रसुवा, मुस्ताङ, म्याग्दीलगायतका जिल्लामा पनि हिमपात भएको छ । हिमपातका कारण ती जिल्लाका जनजीवन प्रभावित भएको स्थानीय संवाददाताहरूले जनाएका छन् ।

Taoiseach to tell Tribunal that cheque was a gift from his late mother
Dublin- The Taoiseach (Irish Primeminister), Bertie Ahern, is reportedly expected to tell the Mahon Tribunal - that a mystery 5,000 pound cheque lodged to two of his bank accounts in 1994 - came from his late mother, Julia Ahern. The tribunal revealed the existence of the 5,000 pound sum during Mr Ahern's evidence before Christmas.

Army bomb disposal unit carry out controlled explotion at Dublin hotel
Dublin- A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspect device found at a hotel in Dublin city centre. Thousands of people were evacuated from houses, bars and hotels along the quays after the device was found at the Clifden Court Hotel on Eden Quay just after eleven o'clock last night. Gardai say the area was reopened after one o'clock this morning after the Army bomb disposal unit made safe the device.
Ireland's wealthiest non-resident due to tax purposes
Dublin- It's understood over 3,000 Irish citizens are classified as tax exiles.
It's also emerged that 19 of Ireland's wealthiest citizens are non-resident here for tax purposes.
This includes those with assets of over 50 million Euro.

E-mail and chat data to be stored 'within a month'
Dublin- Records of e-mails and internet chat messages sent and received by Irish residents - and the times they log on and off the internet - will have to be stored for three years. The scheme will be implemented within a month.
The Irish Times has learned the Department of Justice intends to effect a controversial EU data retention directive affecting e-mail and web usage "within a month", according to a department spokeswoman. Due to the short timescale, the department will need to use a statutory instrument rather than use primary legislation. The content of messages will not be retained, but information specifying who sent and received all e-mail and chat messages, the date and time, and the size of the message would have to be retained. Internet protocol addresses, which define individual users or computers on the net, will also be retained. The directive would likely affect individuals and small to medium businesses, and not private business networks used by large multinationals.
Industry observers and privacy advocates have argued the new EU directive is so vague that internet service providers remain uncertain of what information they need to retain, or how they are to retain and manage it. Despite the short timetable for implementation, industry bodies had not been told yet that the Government planned to bring forward the statutory instrument.
Ireland received warning letters from the EU last month because it is now three months overdue to implement the directive.

Report: 20,000 hospital beds needed in Ireland by 2020
Dublin- An independent report has said 20,000 acute hospital beds are needed across the country.The report by the HSE's external consultants PA has said the beds are needed by 2020.
The HSE gave this report to trade union leaders yesterday, after the external consultant firm PA, found that an additional 20,000 beds are needed over the next 12 years, if the current model of health care here continues.
That is a 40% increase on the current number of acute beds.The cost of this is estimated to be in the region of €4bn.The HSE has said this figure equates to opening a new hospital similar to the size of Tallaght Hospital in Dublin every year for the next 12 years.It is recommending a new model of care which would involve more emphasis on community services and a move away from what it calls our over-reliance on acute hospital care.

Ireland's oldest citizen dies aged
Dublin- Ireland’s most senior citizen has died. Bridget Conroy passed away on Wednesday at the age of 107. Miss Conroy, who was from Connemara, Co Galway, was born in 1900. She was due to celebrate her 108th birthday in April.

Dublin- The European Commission says mobile phone users in Europe are often charged 20% more than the actual time of their calls because they are charged by the minute. After imposing caps on mobile roaming rates earlier this year, the EU body said it was turning its attention to the costly practice of charging by the minute. As an example, it said that although a customer may call for only 20 seconds the person can be charged for a full minute.
It said that it would consider the problem more closely in a report due at the end of the year, which will also focus on the cost of text messages and international data services. EU Telecommunications Commissioner Viviane Reding has raised the prospect of setting caps on text messages and data services if her calls to cut costs are left unanswered. In mid-2007, the commission forced operators to bring the price of making mobile phone calls while abroad below an EU-wide ceiling after finding wide variations among companies' offers across Europe.

Dublin- The North Dublin aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics is likely to close with the loss of up to 1,500 jobs if it loses a crucial Aer Lingus maintenance contract currently under tender, according to an internal document seen by RTÉ News. Last autumn Aer Lingus announced it was putting out to tender its 10-year maintenance contract with SR Technics, which expires this October.
The tender was broken down into four contracts. SR Technics has already been told it has lost two contracts for wheel and brakes and components maintenance. It expects to find out tomorrow whether they have retained the airframe contract. By the end of this month Aer Lingus will reveal whether they are sticking with SR Technics for their key line maintenace contract.

Security situation has improved in Terai’
BIRATNAGAR - Minister for General Administration Ram Chandra Yadav Thursday claimed that the violent incidents in the Terai has substantially subsided after the enforcement of special security plan in eight most troubled districts.
Talking in a programme organised by the Press Chautari here in Biratnagar, the minister, who hails from the restive Terai, also informed that the government is planning to introduce similar security campaign in other districts in the region. Minister Yadav added that the government could not hold talks with the armed agitating groups in the Terai—Goit and Jawala Singh factions of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM)—due to their criminal tendencies.
Minister Yadav added that the activities like asking for ransom, killing of civil servants and abduction of businessmen are not political activities

काठमाडौं- राजधानीमा आज दिउँसो २ बजेर २४ मिनेट जाँदा भूकम्प जाँदैछ । त्यसको असर भने ललितपुरमा बढी पर्नेछ र अव्यवस्थित रूपमा बनाइएका घर ढल्नेछन् । यो घटना यथार्थ नभए पनि दसौँ भूकम्प सुरक्षा दिवसको अवसर पारेर आज जनचेतना जगाउन नक्कली भूकम्प ल्याउन लागिएको हो।राजधानी काठमाडौं भूकम्पीय दृष्टिले खतराको सूचिमा पर्ने सहर हो । प्रत्येक ७५ वर्षको अन्तरालमा काठमाडौंमा महाभूकम्प गएको इतिहास छ । सन् १९९० को माघ २ गते गएको महाभूकम्पले हजारौँको ज्यान गएको थियो । अहिले सो भूकम्प गएको ७५ वर्षपुगेको छ ।

नगरकोटका होटेल बन्द
काठमाडौँ- नगरकोटका होटेल मजदुरले राखेका माग पूरा नभएपछि आजदेखि त्यहाँका होटेल बन्द गरिनेभएका छन् । होटेल तथा रेस्टुराँ मजदुर युनियनले सुविधावृद्धिलगायत माग राखी पटक-पटक होटेल व्यवसायीलाई कुरा गर्दैआएका थिए । मजदुरले राखेका माग पूरा गर्न आज पनि वार्ता भइरहेको बताइन्छ तर वार्ताबाट पनि माग पूरा नभए दिउँसोदेखि होटेल, रेस्टुराँ बन्द गरिने चेतावनी मजदुरले दिएका छन् ।
Congestion costing Dublin Bus €60m annually
Dublin- Congestion is costing Dublin Bus €60m a year out of a total subvention of €80m, the Joint Committee on Transport has heard. Bill McCamley, SIPTU worker director, said Dublin Bus also paid VAT on its subvention and these factors had to be considered when looking at the subvention.
He told the committee that in relation to private operators SIPTU had a pragmatic attitude but claimed that up to 50% of licences issued to private operators to provide a service on some bus routes in Dublin were not being used. He claimed the private operators were sitting on their licences and in the meantime Dublin Bus could not develop a service on that route. He said Dublin Bus had problems in areas like Swords and Lucan because there may be issues with the private operators.

Controllers' dispute may delay Dublin flights
Dublin- The Irish Aviation Authority has confirmed there may be disruption to flights through Dublin Airport in the coming days due to a dispute with air traffic controllers. It is understood that air traffic controllers have imposed an unofficial ban on overtime because they say there is chronic understaffing in the air traffic service. They say the system is now completely dependent on overtime and the staff are finding it difficult to take leave.
There are over 300 air traffic controllers in the Republic and 100 of those are based in Dublin.
However sources at their union, IMPACT, say there have been long standing staffing issues due to inadequate recruitment since the 11 September attacks in the US. They claim it will be at least 2009 before additional staff will have completed their training.
They also stress that overtime is a voluntary matter and that IMPACT has issued no official instructions to implement an overtime ban. The Irish Aviation Authority said that as far as it was concerned it was " business as usual" at Dublin Airport. However a spokesperson acknowledged that if there was understaffing in the coming days, it might be necessary to impose restrictions on air traffic in the interest of safety. That would lead to disruption to passengers. The IAA also said that it regarded a withdrawal of flexibility as a breach of Towards 2016.

USI renews calls for student taskforce in Ireland
Dublin- The Union of Students in Ireland has renewed calls for a student accommodation taskforce to be established to address rising levels of rents students have to pay in order to attend their chosen colleges.The taskforce, promised by Environment Minister John Gormley three months ago has not yet come into being, and this, the union claim, is affecting which courses students pursue, due to their inability to meet rent demands in the surrounding areas of the institutions they wish to attend.New figures released by the union show that students are now paying €500 per month in Dublin, while the grant students receive is only €380 per month.
Last August, a taskforce was promised, and the student grants were increased by an average of 10%.But according to the President of USI Hamidreza Khodabakhshi “Unless the grant is adequately increased and the Taskforce established soon, students could be forced to make decisions about which college to attend based on accommodation costs and availability.” Commenting on the absence of the taskforce Mr Khodabakshi said “That was a hollow boast, because students this year are worse off in real terms.USI Eastern Area Officer Paul Lynam said “The student grant was not raised adequately last August, so students are measurably worse off compared to 12 months ago. Ministers need to get real about what it costs students to support themselves. Once Minister Gormley fulfils his promise to establish a Student Accommodation Taskforce, one of the first things USI will propose is immediate Government investment in purpose-built student accommodation. As an added important benefit, this measure would free up existing affordable accommodation for non-students”

National emergency handbook to be made available
Dublin- Every home in Ireland is to get a handbook within two months to tell them what to do in the event of a major national emergency. The Cabinet's today approved the handbook and an advertising campaign, at a cost of more than two million euro. Ministers hope it will have the same success as the information campaign for the changeover from Irish pounds to Euro.
Half of Irish adults are overweight
Dublin- Just under half of all Irish adults are overweight, according to a survey conducted as part of VIVAS Health Action Week. More than 4,000 adults around the country were interviewed as part of the research, which found that 44% were overweight and another 4% were dangerously obese. The survey also found that the average person spends more than €2,000 on alcohol every year, with people in Dublin spending twice this amount. Sligo is identified as the healthiest county, with relatively low levels of obesity, a below average number of smokers and a low rate of GP referral.

Report highlights housing problems for disabled people
Dublin- People with disabilities still experience major difficulties finding suitable housing, according to a report being published today by the Citizen's Information Board and the Disability Federation. The report recommends that the Department of Finance and Department of the Environment work together with the HSE and voluntary organisations when forming future housing policies. It says there should be increased investment in social housing so that it can address the needs of a disabled person if required. It also recommends lifetime housing design so that disruption is minimal if someone acquires a disability later in life.

Five million euro investment in pharmacuetical giant Wyeth
Dublin- Pharmaceutial giant Wyeth is to create 24 new jobs at its west Dublin headquarters as part of a 5 million euro investment announced this morning. Wyeth is creating a new regulatory and corporate affairs division in Ireland, which has recently become independent from the company's UK operations and is increasing its presence here as a result.
Wyeth Ireland general manager Emmet Browne said the new jobs will allow it to strengthen its focus on research in Ireland and increase its efforts to develop new drugs to market in conjunction with Irish universities.

1 killed, 5 injured in Palpa truck mishap
PALPA- A person was killed and five others injured when an ill-fated haulage truck met with an accident at Deurali VDC in Palpa district on Monday morning. The loaded truck (Lu 1 Kha 4157) overturned on the roadside at Jorte in Deurali VDC. The helper of the bus Deepak Bika, 16, a resident of Arkhale in Gulmi district died in the accident, said the District Police Office.
The injured persons have been identified as Hem Bahadur Darji of Wagla, Gulmi, Hom Bahadur Nepali of Balkot in Arghakhanchi, Pitamber Khanal and Kisan Pandey of Gulmi, and Nara Bahadur Nepali of Balkot. All the injured persons are undergoing treatment at Mission Hospital in the district headquarters Tansen. The reason of the accident has not been ascertained, however, the preliminary investigation carried out by the police have deduced that the mishap might have been occurred due to failure of the truck’s brakes.

Irish Government revives controversial plans on asylum seekers
Dublin- The Government's revived controversial plans to hold selected asylum seekers in detention centres while their applications are examined despite criticism from immigrant groups and the Opposition.
The move, which was first announced last year by former justice minister Michael McDowell, aims to prevent unsuccessful applicants from evading deportaion orders.
Senior civil servants have already travelled to similar facilities in Holland and England to examine how successful the system might be here.

Drivers warned of new M50 layout in Dublin
Dublin- Motorists in Dublin are being warned of a new layout on the M50 motorway this morning. New lanes are in operation for inbound traffic from the N7/Naas Road. Traffic on the M50 northbound will have to travel south to Ballymount and then U-turn until the new northbound free flow slip road is opened. Motorists are being urged to pay attention to all signage and ensure they get in the correct lane.
Rail services in north Dublin getting back to normal
Dublin- Rail services in north Dublin are getting back to normal this morning following three days of disruption caused by a derailment of a freight train on Thursday night. The incident happened just south of Skerries, causing significant damage to the track. Repair teams completed work on the track yesterday evening.Commuter trains to Drogheda and Dundalk, as well as Dublin to Belfast services, were affected by the disruption.
Nepalese will participate in St. Patrick's Day Parade in Ireland

Dublin- Nepalese people will participate for the first time in St. Patrick Festival Parade 2008 in Ireland. For this purpose, 15 to 20 Nepalese on behalf of Nepal Ireland Society (http://www.nepalireland.org/) will represent in this parade. Jeevan Timilsina will lead the Nepalese group in this parade. Official training is started from today for Nepalese performers. Nepalese group will represent Nepal and Nepalese culture by Nepalese costume as well as Nepalese instruments. In today's training, Ganesh Prasain, Jeevan Timilsina, Suman Ghimire, Gangaram Kandel, Damber Singh Nepal and Krishna Bhattarai were the participant. This number will be increase from next week. The training will be given by City Fusion.

Student's shunning ITC courses
Dublin-A 56% drop in the number of students accepting third level computing courses is posing a very real threat to the sustainability one of Ireland’s most successful and secure sectors, it was claimed today.
The Director of Information Communications Technology at Tipperary Institute warned there has to be a realignment of interest in ICT posts. James Greenslade said the drop from 4,097 students taking up third level ICT courses in 2000 to 1,791 last year was extremely worrying for Ireland’s excellent international reputation in the sector. “Ireland is considered to be one of the brighter lights in the ICT sector worldwide, punching way above its weight, but the dramatic fall-off in the number of students undertaking third level courses in the sector is very worrying to say the least,” he said. “It has the potential to damage our competitiveness in one of the stronger performing sectors and one that earned our country international recognition throughout the ’90s.
“The construction sector is getting so much attention because of the potential loss of jobs, this is one sector where jobs are available and is crying out for high quality graduates.” The academic said the sector employs 83,400 people, representing 8% of total employment in industry and services, and created 3,386 new jobs in 2006.

वीरगन्जबाट प्रकाशित हाइवे साप्ताहिकका प्रकाशक सम्पादक पुष्कर श्रेष्ठलाई गएराति अज्ञात समूहले घरनजिकै गोली हानी हत्या गरेको छ । वीरगन्ज नपा-१३ आदर्शनगर निवासी श्रेष्ठ गएराति आफ्नो पसलबाट घर जाँदैगरेको बेला उनीमाथि गोली प्रहार गरिएको थियो । गोली लागी घाइते भएका पत्रकार श्रेष्ठको नारायणी उपक्षेत्रीय अस्पताल वीरगन्जमा उपचार हुँदाहुँदै राति मृत्यु भयो । हाइवे पत्रिकाका सम्पादक रहेका श्रेष्ठको पत्रिका उनका ज्वाइँ शशी श्रेष्ठले प्रकाशित गर्दै आएका छन् । पत्रकार श्रेष्ठको हत्या ज्वालासिंह समूहले गरेको आशङ्का प्रहरीले गरेको छ । त्यस्तै गएराति वीरगन्जका दुई ठाउँमा गरिएको बम विस्फोटमा परी चार सर्वसाधारण घाइते भएका छन् । गएराति अज्ञात समूहले वीरगन्जको बिर्ताचोकमा गराएको विस्फोटमा एक र विन्ध्यवासिनीमा गराएको विस्फोटमा तीन सर्वसाधारण घाइते भएको वीरगन्जबाट महानगर संवाददाताले जनाएका छन् ।

पुष २९ गते प्रकाशित आयोगको कार्यक्रम अनुसार, पुष ३० गतेसम्म दल दर्ता गर्ने समय छ । फागुन दोश्रो सातादेखि मतदाता शिक्षा कार्यक्रम सुरु हुने, निर्वाचन अधिकृत नियुक्ति र खटनपटन माघ तेश्रो सातासम्म गरिने र निर्वाचन अधिकृतहरुलाई अनुशिक्षण कार्यक्रम फागुन ८ गतेसम्म गरिने आयोगको कार्यक्रम छ । यसैगरी, समानुपातिक प्रणालीका लागि माघ २८ गते थप कार्यक्रम प्रकाशित गरिने र दलहरुले समानुपातिक प्रणालीका लागि आयोगलाई फागुन ८ गते बन्द सूची बुझाउनुपर्ने आयोगको तोकेको छ । प्रत्यक्ष प्रणालीतर्फ फागुन १३ गते उमेद्वारी दर्ता गर्नुपर्ने र १९ गते उमेद्वारहरुलाई चिन्ह प्रदान गर्ने पनि आयोगले निश्चित गरेको छ ।

चुनावका लागि तोकिएका बुथहरुमा ६० किसिमका चुनाव सम्बन्धि सामाग्री पुर्याउन थालिइसकेको पनि आयोगले जानकारी दिएको छ । यद्यपि, मौसमलगायत बिभिन्न कारणले मत पत्रलगायत सामाग्रीहरु समयमै बुथहरुमा पुर्याउनु चुनौतीपूर्ण रहेको आयोगको भनाइ छ । केही स्थानबाहेक मुलुकको सुरक्षास्थिति सुदृढ बनिसकेकाले चैत २८ गते चुनाव हुनेमा शंका नगर्न प्रमुख निर्वाचन आयुक्त भोजराज पोखरेलले कार्यक्रममा आग्रह गरे ।

चुनावका लागि तोकिएका बुथहरुमा ६० किसिमका चुनाव सम्बन्धि सामाग्री पुर्याउन थालिइसकेको पनि आयोगले जानकारी दिएको छ । यद्यपि, मौसमलगायत बिभिन्न कारणले मत पत्रलगायत सामाग्रीहरु समयमै बुथहरुमा पुर्याउनु चुनौतीपूर्ण रहेको आयोगको भनाइ छ । केही स्थानबाहेक मुलुकको सुरक्षास्थिति सुदृढ बनिसकेकाले चैत २८ गते चुनाव हुनेमा शंका नगर्न प्रमुख निर्वाचन आयुक्त भोजराज पोखरेलले कार्यक्रममा आग्रह गरे ।
बेलबारी हत्याकाण्डमा सेना संलग्न
काठमाडौं- लोकतन्त्र बहालीको भोलिपल्ट अर्थात् २०६३ वैशाख १२ र १३ गते मोरङको बेलबारीमा नेपाली सेनाले सुनियोजित रूपमा हत्याकाण्ड मच्चाएको ठहर संसद्ले गरेको समाचार नेपाल समाचारपत्र ले प्रकाशित गरेको छ ।
समाचारमा भानिएको छ - झन्डै दुई वर्षअगाडि वैशाख १२ गते स्थानीय महिला सपना गुरुङलाई सेनाले घरबाटै अपहरण गरी सामूहिक बलात्कार गरेको र त्यसपछि गोली हानी निर्ममतापूर्वक हत्या गरेको अध्ययनबाट पुष्टि भएको छ । महिलालाई सामूहिक बलात्कार गरी हत्या गरेको विरोधमा त्यसको भोलिपल्ट प्रदर्शनमा उत्रिएका जनतामाथि सेनाले अन्धाधुन्ध गोली हानी ६ जनाको हत्या गरेको, १० जना अशक्त घाइते भई अपांग भएको र ३८ जना घाइते भएकोबारेमा अनुसन्धान गर्न संसद्ले २०६३ वैशाख २७ गते छानबिन समिति गठन गरेको थियो।सांसद परि थापा, कमला पन्त, विजय सुब्बा, नारायणप्रकाश साउद र रामनाथ अधिकारी रहनुभएको छानबिन समितिले अध्ययन गरिरहेको तर काम नसकिएकाले व्यवस्थापिका-संसद्ले पुनः २०६३ फागुन २५ गते परि थापाकै संयोजकत्वमा कमला पन्त, गोकर्ण विष्ट, तीर्था गौतम, धर्मशिला चापागाईं, नारायणप्रकाश साउद, रामनाथ अधिकारी, विजय सुब्बा र शिवकुमार मण्डल रहेको समिति बनाएको थियो। सो समितिले भारतमा डीएनए परीक्षणसमेत गर्न पठाई गम्भीर अध्ययन गरी निष्कर्ष प्रतिवेदन शनिबार व्यवस्थापिका-संसद्मा प्रस्तुत गरेको छ।झन्डै दुई वर्ष लामो अध्ययन-अनुसन्धानपछि संसदीय समितिले २८ जना अधिकारी, सेना र प्रहरी अधिकृतलाई कारबाही गर्न सिफारिस गरेको छ। सिफारिस गरिएका सम्बद्ध व्यक्तिलाई कारबाही गरी संसद्लाई जानकारी गराउनसमेत समितिले रक्षा र गृह मन्त्रालयलाई निर्देश गरेको छ।संसद्ले समेत अनुमोदन गरेको सो निष्कर्षे नेपाली सेनाका लालबहादुर कुँवर, लोकेन्द्रराज थापा, महेश पन्त, दीपक श्रेष्ठ, नन्दराज राई, खगेन्द्र ऐर, प्रदीपराज बानियाँ, दीपेश रेग्मी, निर्मलकुमार पन्त, वीरबहादुर महरा, कृष्णसिं कुँवर, खेमबहादुर जिसी, देवसिं धामी, निर्मल रतौकी, प्रेमसिं भण्डारी, पदम आडे एव् प्रहरी अधिकारीमा ज्ञानेन्द्र बस्नेत, नीरकुमार राई, विकेन्द्र कार्की, नारायण कोइराला, लालबहादुर खड्का, मुनिलाल यादवललगायतलाई कारबाही गर्न सिफारिस गरेको छ।त्यसै गरी बेलबारीका प्रमुख सहसेनानी प्रह्लाद थापामगर, विष्णुदल गणका गणपति सानु तामाङ, प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारी नरेन्द्र दाहाल, इटहरीका पृतनापति ओमबहादुर पुन, बाहिनीपति पवनबहादुर पाण्डे, प्रहरी उपरीक्षक जगतबहादुर विष्टलाई ऐनकानुनबमोजिम कार्य नगरेको भनी कडा कारबाही गर्न संसद्ले निर्देश गरेको छ।बेलबारीका प्रमुख सहसेनानी प्रह्लाद थापामगरको नेतृत्वमा ११ जनाको सैनिक टोलीले २०६३ वैशाख १२ गते साँझ ९ बजेको समयमा आफ्नै डेरामा रहेकी सपना गुरुङलाई अपहरण गरी निर्जन र एकान्त स्थानमा लगी सामूहिक बलात्कार गरेको टोलीको अध्ययनले देखाएको छ।सपनाको हत्यापछि वैशाख १३ गते विरोधमा उत्रिएका जनतालाई उल्टै अन्धाधुन्ध गोली हानिएको र त्यसबाट थप ६ जनाको मृत्यु भएको भन्दै संसदीय समितिले सैनिक बर्दीमा रहेका केही आपराधिक मानसिकता भएका व्यक्तिहरूको क्रियाकलापले सिंगो सैनिक संगठनलाई नै शंकाको घेरामा ल्याएको जनँएको छ।

निर्वाचन आचारसंहिता बुधबारदेखि
काठमाडौं- निर्वाचन आयोगले संविधानसभा निर्वाचन प्रयोजनका लागि आउँदो बुधबार अर्थात् माघ २ गतेदेखि निर्वाचन आचारसंहिता लागू गर्ने भएको छ । आयोगले नेपाल सरकार, सरकारी तथा अर्धसरकारी संस्था र स्थानीय निकायका हकमा माघ २ गतेदेखि लागू हुने गरी संविधानसभा सदस्य निर्वाचन आचारसंहिता कार्यान्वयन हुने निर्णय गरिएको शनिबार जनाएको छ ।
त्यस्तै राजनीतिक दलका हकमा समानुपातिक निर्वाचन प्रणालीअन्तर्गत उम्मेदवारको बन्द सूची पेस गरेको मितिदेखि आचारसंहिता लागू हुनेछ भने उम्मेदवारको हकमा निर्वाचनको मनोनयनपत्र दर्ता भएको मितिदेखि र निजी सञ्चारमाध्यमका हकमा उम्मेदवारलाई निर्वाचन चिह्न प्रदान गरेको मितिदेखि आचारसंहिता लाग्ने आयोगले जनाएको छ । आयोगले संविधानसभा सदस्य निर्वाचन नियमावली २०६४ को नियम ३ को उपनियम (१) बमोजिम संविधानसभा सदस्यको निर्वाचनका लागि २०६४ साल चैत २८ गते बिहान ७ बजेदेखि अपराह्न ५ बजेसम्म मतदान हुने गरी मतदानको समयसमेत तोकेको छ । जिल्ला न्यायाधीशहरूलाई निर्वाचन अधिकृतमा नियुक्त गर्नका लागि सहमति प्राप्त गर्न प्रधानन्यायाधीशसँग र नेपाल न्याय सेवाका कम्तीमा राजपत्रांकित द्वितीय श्रेणीका अधिकृत कर्मचारीहरूलाई निर्वाचन अधिकृतमा नियुक्त गर्नका लागि न्याय सेवा आयोगको सहमति प्राप्त गर्न र मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकृत एवम् निर्वाचन अधिकृतको रूपमा खटिने पदाधिकारीहरूको नामावलीसमेत पठाइदिनका लागि कानुन, न्याय तथा संसदीय व्यवस्था मन्त्रालयमा अनुरोध गर्ने आयोगले जनाएको छ।निर्वाचनमा खटिने सम्पूर्ण पदाधिकारी तथा कर्मचारीहरूको निर्वाचन अवधिभर हुने दुर्घटनाका लागि सबैलाई १० लाख रुपियाँका दरले व्यक्तिगत दुर्घटना बिमा गर्नेसमेत निर्णय गरिएको आयोगले जनाएको छ।आयोगले तोकिएको मितिमा स्वच्छ, स्वतन्त्र तथा निष्पक्ष ढंगबाट निर्वाचन सम्पन्न गर्ने प्रतिबद्धतासमेत व्यक्त गरेको छ।

Last day of Shannon-Heathrow service
Dublin- The Aer Lingus service between Shannon and Heathrow will come to an end today, after almost 60 years. The company took a decision last August to transfer its valuable Heathrow slots to Belfast, from where a new daily service to London begins tomorrow. The controversial decision caused uproar in the midwest and west regions where people feared it would damage tourism and employment in the area.
Industry and tourism sources said it would have disastrous consequences for jobs in the region, and could have a negative impact on visitor numbers to the west of Ireland, because it ended connectivity to one of the biggest and busiest airports in the world. Aer Lingus stood over its decision, saying it was done for commercial reasons, and it believes it can grow significant business out of Belfast.

चुनाव चैत २८ मा
काठमाडौं - सरकारले संविधानसभाको निर्वाचन एकै चरणमा आगामी चैत २८ गते बिहीबार गराउने घोषणा गरेको छ । सात राजनीतिक दलको निर्णय अनुसार मन्त्रिपरिषद्को शुक्रबार बसेको बैठकले चुनावको तिथि घोषणा गरेको हो । गत जेठ, असार र मंसिरका लागि तीनपटक निर्धारित तिथिमा संविधानसभा चुनाव हुन नसकेपछि सरकारले चौथोपटक तिथि तय गरेको हो ।
बैठकपछि मन्त्रीहरूले निर्वाचनसम्बन्धी सम्पूर्ण कानुन बनिसकेको र सात दलबीच पूर्ण सहमति भएकाले यसपटक चुनाव सम्पन्न हुने विश्वास व्यक्त गरेका छन् । 'यसअघि सात दलकै आन्तरिक कारणले चुनाव हुन नसकेको हो । यसपटक सात दलले पूर्ण सहमतिका साथ अठोट गरिसकेकाले चुनाव हुन्छ,' नवनियुक्त मन्त्री फर्मुल्लाह मन्सुरले भने । शान्तिसुरक्षाका दृष्टिले संवेदनशील मानिएका तर्राईमा निर्वाचनका बेला राम्रो सुरक्षा व्यवस्था मिलाउन सरकारले त्यहाका अधिकांश जिल्लामा रिक्त प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारी तत्काल पूर्ति गर्न तत्कालका लागि तीन विकल्प अपनाउने निर्णय गरेको छ ।
श्रम तथा यातायातमन्त्री रमेश लेखकका अनुसार सरकारले उपलब्ध भएसम्म मधेसी समुदायका सहसचिवलाई प्राथमिकता दिएर ती जिल्लामा सीडीओ बनाएर पठाउने भएको छ । त्यसैगरी प्राविधिक सहसचिवलाई समेत सीडीओ बनाउन सक्ने या कामु या निमित्त सीडीओलाई नै कन्र्फम सीडीओ सरहको अधिकार दिने विकल्प अपनाउने भएको छ । तर्राईका अधिकांश जिल्लामा निमित्त या कामु सीडीओ छन् । द्वितीय श्रेणीको कर्मचारी छ महिनाभन्दा बढी कामु सीडीओ हुन नपाउने कानुनी व्यवस्था छ ।

नेपालमा ट्याक्सीको भाडा बढ्यो
काठमाडौं- नेपाल सरकारले लगातार दुई पटक पेट्रोलको भाउ वृद्धि गरेपछि शुक्रबारदेखि ट्याक्सीको भाडादर पनि बढाएको छ । यातायात व्यवस्था विभागका अनुसार प्रतिकिलो मिटर २० रुपैया ५० पैसा नया भाडा निर्धारण गरिएको छ । यो भाडादरअनुसार प्रति २ सय मिटर गुडेवापत उपभोक्ताले ४ रुपैया १० पैसा तिर्नुपर्ने छ । ट्याक्सी प्रयोग गरेवापत सुरुमा लाग्ने ८ रुपैया शुल्क भने यथावत् राखिएको छ ।
हाल राजधानीमा ट्याक्सीले प्रतिकिलो मिटर १७ रुपैया लिदै आएका थिए । यो पुरानाका तुलनामा १७ प्रतिशत बढी हो ।

कान्तिपुर दैनिकका अनुसार उपत्यकामा हाल सातहजार ट्याक्सी सञ्चालनमा छन् । नया भाडा लिन गुणस्तर तथा नाप तौल विभागबाट ट्याक्सी चालकले मिटरको सिल परिवर्तन गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ । तर विभागले अहिलेको संरचनाअनुसार एक दिनमा ८० वटा भन्दा बढी ट्याक्सीको सिल परिवर्तन गर्न सक्दैन । यस्तो अवस्थामा ट्याक्सी चालकले सिल बिगार्ने र बढी रकम लिने सम्भावना रहकाले उपभोक्ता सचेत रहनुपर्ने विभागका अधिकारीले बताए ।
