220 jobs to go at Dublin biscuit factory
Dublin- 220 jobs are to be lost at Jacob Fruitfield, formerly Irish Biscuits, on the Belgard Road in Tallaght by March 2009. The announcement was made by the company chief executive at a staff meeting this afternoon. All biscuit production will cease at the plant by that date. The job losses are all in the manufacturing side of the business. The company makes approximately 10,000 tonnes of biscuits a year at the plant. The staff were told the company is making €10m available for retraining staff to find alterative employment.
