46 hours a week load shedding from today
Kathmandu - Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to increase load shedding from 36 to 46 hours a week effective from Friday. The load shedding has been imposed to repair Kulekhani-II.
Consumers will now have to face power outage for eight hours a day three days a week and seven and a half hours a day three times a week. According to NEA’s load shedding centre Chief Sher Singh Bhatt, the load shedding hours were increased as the power houses, supplying 3 hundred thousand units of electricity, have to be shut down for the repair of the Kulekhani-II.
He informed that the whole repair of Kulekhani-II is estimated to end by late March, which will help in electricity supply in the dry season.
NEA is around 2.4 million units of electricity short despite the import from India and private sector.
