Oil smashes through record
Dublin- The price of oil has hit 100 dollars a barrel for the first time.
Prices surged over the last week of December amid concerns about declining stockpiles in the US. Over the past day the cost per barrel of crude oil has leapt from 98 dollars to 100 dollars, partly as a result of an outbreak of violence in Nigeria, Africa's largest producer of oil.
