Laois fatality brings holiday road deaths to four

Dublin- A 43-year-old man has died following a road accident in Laois this morning.

The death brings to four the number of people killed over the bank holiday weekend.

The pedestrian was fatally injured when he was struck by a car on the N8 two miles north of Durrow, Co. Laois at about twenty past midnight

This section of the N8 has been closed and motorists are asked to follow the diversions in place.

Meanwhile a section of the N25 at Grange near Ardmore in Waterford has re-opened after a serious accident there yesterday evening left one man dead.

The man died when the car he was driving was in a collision with a tractor and a bailing machine.

And yesterday afternoon a 63 year old man died after a collision at Tooma, Cloone, in County Leitrim.

While on Friday night, a man in his thirties died after a crash in County Cork.
