डब्लिन - स्वतन्त्र तिब्बतको माग राख्दै आयरलैंडको राजधानी डब्लिनस्थित सिटी सेन्टरमा सोमबार दिउसो आयरलैंडमा बसोबास गरिरहेका करीब दुई दर्जन तिब्बती नागरिकहरुले शान्तिपूर्ण जुलूसको आयोजना गरे । आयरिश लगायत केही विदेशीहरु

आयोजित विरोध प्रदर्शनमा सहभागी तिब्बती नागरिकहरु, प्रदर्शनमा तिब्बत समर्थक विदेशीहरु पनि सहभागी थिए । प्रदर्शनमा सहभागी एक महिला पासाङका अनुसार आयरलैंडमा करीब २५ जना तिब्बतीहरु छन् । उनका अनुसार उनीहरुले आज नै आयरलैंडका प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालयमा ज्ञापन पत्र समेत बुझायेका छन् ।

4 dead, 23 wounded in Saptari bus mishap

SAPTARI - At least four persons were killed and twenty-three others injured in a passenger bus mishap at Sitapur in Saptari district on Monday. Three of them died on the spot, while another one died on his way to hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Tek Bahadur Gurung of Damak in Jhapa district, a Bangladeshi national, and a conductor of the bus.

The passenger (Na 2 Kha 9729) bus belonging to Saubhagi Travels was heading for Jhapa from the capital when it lost control and hit a nearby tree at around 6 this morning. Thirteen passengers, who were seriously injured, were rushed to BP Koirala Memorial Hospital in Dharan for treatment, Police said. The other 10 injured are undergoing treatment at Sagarmatha Zonal hospital in Rajbiraj.

Several roads flooded after heavy overnight rains

Dublin- Motorists are being advised to be extremely careful on the roads this morning following heavy overnight rains. Several roads around the country have been flooded following the downpours.
The N7 Dublin to Limerick road is down to one lane near the Portlaoise by-pass and has also been affected by floods in Co Tipperary.The inbound stretch of the N11 in Dublin, meanwhile, is partially flooded at the Foster Avenue Junction.AA Roadwatch is urging drivers to slow down and approach any flooded areas with extreme caution.

नमूना मतदान हुँदै

काठमाडौं- चैत २८ को संविधानसभा चुनावमा काठमाडौं क्षेत्र नम्बर १ मा प्रयोग गरिनलागेको बिद्युतीय मतपेटिकाबारे मतदातालाई जानकारी दिन निर्वाचन आयोग काठमाडौंले नमूना मतदान गराउदैछ । चैत १६ गते बिहान १० बजेदेखि क्षेत्र नम्बर १ का १० वटा नमूना मतदान केन्द्रहरुमा मतदाताहरु लाईन लागेर मतदान गरिरहेका छन् । बेलुका ५ बजेसम्म मतदान गर्न पाउने ब्यवस्था गरिएको आयोगले बताएको छ ।
एउटा बिद्युतीय मतपेटिकामा १६ वटा मात्र चिन्ह अट्ने हुनाले अहिले संविधानसभा चुनावमा एक नम्बर क्षेत्रका प्रत्येक मतदान केन्द्रमा ४ वटा मतपेटिका राख्नुपर्छ । तर, नमूनाका लागि मात्र मतदान गराईएकाले आज मतदान केन्द्रमा तीन मतपेटिका मात्र राखिएको छ । आज राखिएको मतपेटिका ३७ चिन्ह राखिएका छन् ।
मतपेटिकामा अहिलेको चुनावमा प्रयोग हुने चिन्हहरु भने राखिएका छैनन् । यसैगरी, आजको मतदानको परिणाम पनि सार्वजनिक गरिनेछैन । आयोगले १० नमूना मतदान केन्द्रबाहेक १ नम्बर क्षेत्रका अरु चोकहरुमा पनि मतपेटिका तथा मतदान गर्ने तरिकाबारे खुला कक्षा चलाएको छ ।

दैनिक पत्रकार सम्मेलन हुने

निर्वाचन आयोगले चैत २८ को संविधानसभा चुनावबारे हरेक दिन पत्रकार सम्मेलन गर्ने भएको छ । 
चैत २८ को संविधानसभा चुनावसम्बन्धमा निर्वाचन आयोगले चैत १७ देखि दैनिक पत्रकार सम्मेलन गर्ने भएको छ । आयोगका प्रवक्ता लक्ष्मण भट्टराईका अनुसार, पत्रकार सम्मेलन हरेक दिउँसो तीन बजे आयोगको मिडिया सेन्टरमा गरिनेछ ।

An Post falls short of delivery targets

Dublin- An Post fell well short of targets for delivery of mail last year, according to the latest report from the communications regulator.
ComReg said that 77% of standard post was delivered within one working day. This is an improvement of five points since 2006, but is still well below ComReg's 94% target.

The figures for mail posted in Dublin and outside Dublin were the same at 77%, but ComReg said an improvement in the Dublin service from 2006 had not been replicated elsewhere.
Mail posted outside Dublin for delivery in Dublin was the worst performing category, with 75% delivered within one day. Overall, 97%% of mail was delivered within three working days, still short of the ComReg target of 99.5%.
ComReg's Alex Chisholm said that despite an improvement last year, the next day delivery figure had gone up by only six percentage points in the past five years, and An Post needed to do much more work.

Dublin protest over health service

Dublin- A major demonstration calling for a better public health service is taking place in Dublin today. The march and rally is being held by an umbrella group of health unions and patient campaign bodies. Organisers say they expect 70,000 people to attend.

Today's demonstration will involve the Dublin Council of Trade Unions, medical and nursing organisations and families affected by the superbug MRSA. Organisers say they are expecting people to travel from all over the country to take part in the event, which gets underway at 3pm at Parnell Square. The march is taking place against a backdrop of criticism of the Health Service Executive. Yesterday the IMO described the HSE as an 'administrative monster'. But the HSE rejected the claim, saying it was all too easy to castigate health administrators.

मतदातालाई निशुल्क यातायात

राजनीतिक दलहरुले राजधानीमा रहेका जिल्ला जान चाहने मतदाताका लागि निशुल्क यातायातको ब्यवस्था गरेका छन् ।

चुनावको गर्मी बढ्नुसँगै राजनीतिक दलहरुले राजधानीबाट जिल्लामा मतदाता लान थालेका छन् । दलहरुको आग्रहमा जिल्ला जाने मतदाताले यातायात शुल्कसमेत तिर्नु नपर्ने ब्यवस्था गरिएका दलका कार्यकर्ता बताउछन् । राजधानीमा अध्ययन तथा काम गरेर बसेका मतदाताहरुले मतदान अधिकार पाउन् भनेर यस्तो ब्यवस्था गरिएको उनीहरु बताउछन् ।
एमाले केन्द्रीय कार्यलय सचिव युवराज कार्कीले आफ्नो पार्टीले राजधानीमा बसोबास गरिरहेका जिल्लाका मतदातालाई निशुल्क लैजाने ब्यवस्था चैत १५, १८, २१ र २४ गते गरेको बताए । न्यून आय भएकाहरुलाई यस्तो ब्यवस्थामा समेटिएको उनको भनाइ छ । पार्टीका भात्रृ संगठनहरु अनेरास्ववियू, किसान संघ, प्ररायुसंघ र जिल्ला जिल्लाका सम्पर्क मञ्चहरुले बिभिन्न तरिकाले उठाएको चन्दा यसमा खर्च गरिएको उनी जानकारी दिन्छन् ।
नेपाली कांग्रेस केन्द्रीय कार्यलय सचिव शोभाकर पराजुलीले चैत २६ गतेसम्म जिल्ला जान चाहने मतदाताहरुलाई निशुल्क यातायात ब्यवस्था गरिएको जानकारी दिए । ज्याला/मजदुरी गरेर राजधानीमा बसिरहेका जिल्लाका मतदातालाई यसरी लैजान लागिएको उनले बताए । पार्टीका शुभचिन्तकहरुको चन्दालाई यातायात खर्चमा प्रयोग गरिएको उनको भनाइ छ ।
माओवादीसम्वद्ध अखिल नेपाल ट्रेड युनियन महासँघले पनि राजधानीमा रहेका दिनहुँ २ देखि ४ गाडी मतदाताहरुलाई जिल्लाहरुमा पठाइरहेको छ । महासंघका उपाध्यक्ष आकाशले चन्दाबाट उठाएको रकम निशुल्क यातायातका लागि ब्यवस्था गरिएको बताए । काठमाडौंमा रहेका जिल्लाका मतदाताहरुलाई चैत २५ गतेसम्म पठाइने पनि उनले जानकारी दिए ।

एसएलसी सकियो

काठमाडौं - संबिधान सभाको चुनाबले गर्दा गएका बर्षहरुमा भन्दा एकहप्ता छिटो शुरु भएको एसएलसी परीक्षा हिजो सकिएको छ । यसपालिको एसएलसीमा तीन लाख ७९ हजार ३ सय ७७ परीक्षार्थीहरु सहभागी रहे । उनीहरुका लागि एक हजार दुइ सय ९९ परीक्षा केन्द्र तोकिएको थियो । परीक्षार्थीमध्ये नियमिततर्फ ३ लाख १९ हजार ५ सय ३२ र एक्जाम्टेडतर्फ ५९ हजार ८ सय ४५ थिए।
दूरशिक्षाबाट देशभरिका पाँच विद्यालयका एक सय १२ विद्यार्थी पनि यस वर्षएसएलसी परीक्षामा सहभागी रहे । दुइ विदेशी परीक्षार्थीर्ले पनि यसपटक एसएलसी परीक्षा दिएका छन् । सुरक्षाका लागि १३ हजारभन्दा बढी सुरक्षाकर्मी परिचालन गरिएको थियो । यसअघिका वर्षरुमा बिहान ७ बजेदेखि परीक्षा सुरु हुने गरेको भए पनि यसपालि ८ बजेदेखि सुरु गरिएको थियो । त्यसैगरी गएका वर्ष चैतको दोस्रो हप्तादेखि हुने गरेको एसएलसी परीक्षा यसपालि केही छिटो सुरु गरिएको हो । यसपटक शिक्षकहरुलाई पनि चुनावमा खटाइएको छ ।

पाकिस्तानी प्रधानमन्त्री ऐश्वर्याका फ्यान

पाकिस्तानका नवनिर्वाचित प्रधानमन्त्री युसुफ रजा गिलानी पनि बलिउड सुन्दरी ऐश्वर्या रायका प्रशंसक रहेको रहस्योद्घाटन भएको छ। हालै मात्र पाकिस्तानको प्रधानमन्त्री पदको शपथ लिएका गिलानी ऐश्वर्याका फ्यान रहेको रहस्य उनी स्वयम्ले खोलेका हुन्। उनी ऐश्वर्याको खास अदा र सौर्न्दर्यबाट प्रभावित भएका हुन्। हालै मात्र पाकिस्तानी निजी टेलिभिजन च्यानल जीओ टीभीलाई दिएको अन्तरवार्तामा पाकिस्तानी प्रधानमन्त्री गिलानीले यो रहस्य खोलेका हुन्। अन्तरवार्तामा गिलानीले आफू जेलमा रहँदा आफ्नो ल्यापटपबाट ऐश्वर्याको चलचित्र छानी-छानी हेर्ने गरेको बताएका छन्। गिलानीले लता मंगेसकर आफूलाई मनपर्ने गायिका भएको पनि अन्तरवार्तामा बताए। ँजेलमा हुँदा म ल्यापटपमा ऐश्वर्या रायको फिल्म हेर्थें र लता मंगेसकरको गीत सुन्थें। म यो कुरा कबुल गर्न हिचकिचाउँदिन कि म ऐश्वर्या रायको जबर्जस्त फ्यान हुं’ -गिलानीले अन्तरवार्ताका क्रममा भनेका छन्।

Dublin- Large areas of Galway city have no water this morning after a series of leaks from pipes.
Tankers are due to deliver water to several parts of the city later this morning.
A boil notice is expected to be issued by Galway City Council.

School kids get laptops in Nepal

KATHMANDU - The government distributed laptops to the fourth graders of Janajyoti Lower Secondary School here in Janagal on Thursday. As a part of pilot project with the technical support from One Laptop Per Child-Nepal (OLPCN), these low-cost ($100) XO laptops were presented to all 16 students of grade four.
"The laptops would help children in developing their knowledge and skills," said Janardan Nepal, Director General of Department of Education. "The government has plans to take this project to Makwanpur and Mustang after this," added Nepal. Chairman of OLPCN Shanker Pokharel said, "To make learning easier and fun, the academic course of grade five has also been installed in the laptop."

Ó Searcaigh in 'an abyss' after documentary

Dublin- Irish Poet Cathal Ó Searcaigh has compared himself to Oscar Wilde in an interview on the making of the documenatary 'Fairytale of Kathmandu'. The documentary was made by Neasa Ní Chianáin who said she had become concerned about his relationship with young men while filming him in Nepal.
Mr Ó Searcaigh said in an interview with Raidio na Gaeltachta today that he felt we was in an abyss and that his reputation had been tarnished. Comparing himself to Oscar Wilde, he said that although he was down he was still looking up at the stars.
He also said that nobody had refused him work so far in light of the controversy.
Mr Ó Searcaigh criticised the programme-makers for giving the impression that he was a sex-tourist and ignoring the long-term relationship he had with the people of Nepal.
He also claimed that he gave three-quarters of what he earned to people in that country.
In the film, Mr Ó Searcaigh confirmed he had sex with boys that came to his room but the film-maker stressed that none was under 16, the age of consent in Nepal.

BoI predicts 3% economic growth for 2008 in Ireland

Dublin- Bank of Ireland has predicted that the economy will grow by as much as 3% this year and that 40,000 jobs will be created. This is in sharp contrast to recent forecasts from other organisations such as the ESRI, which has predicted no growth in employment at all.

However, Bank of Ireland Chief Economist Dan McLaughlin insisted today that strong employment growth in the services sector would more than compensate for job losses in the construction sector. He also said that the economic slowdown is likely to cost the Government €1bn in tax shortfalls this year.

Bank of Ireland has been consistently among the most optimistic forecasters of the Irish economy, and today's report from Mr McLaughlin is no exception. He thinks the economy will grow twice as fast at predicted two weeks ago by the ESRI and says that there is no question of jobs growth grinding to a halt. The report also expresses surprise about the level of food inflation in Ireland, which is higher than the European average. It points out that one third of Ireland's food imports come from the UK and that the cost of these imports should be falling because sterling has gone down in value against the euro.
The bank is sticking to its earlier prediction that the European Central Bank will cut interest rates twice during the second half of this year and that as a result interest rates will end the year 0.5 points lower than they are right now.

काठमाडौं - तर्राईमा संघर्षरत चार सशस्त्र समूहले सरकारसग वार्ताका लागि औपचारिक पत्र पठाएका छन् । सरकारी वार्ता समितिको आमन्त्रण स्वीकार गर्दै उनीहरूले बुधबार पत्र पठाएका हुन् । मधेस मुक्ति टार्इगर्स, तर्राई कोब्रा, राजन मुक्ति अध्यक्ष रहेको जनतान्त्रिक तर्राई मुक्ति मोर्चा र पवन संयोजक रहेका संयुक्त जनतान्त्रिक मुक्ति मोर्चाले वार्ताका लागि पत्र प्राप्त गरेको र आफूहरू कुराकानीका लागि तयार रहेको प्रतिउत्तर पठाएका हुन् ।
पत्रमा वार्ता र छलफलको आधारमा तर्राईवासी, मधेसीहरूलाई विश्व मान्यताअनुरूप अधिकारहरू दिने सर्न्दर्भमा वार्ता गर्न तयार रहेको उल्लेख छ । चार सदस्यीय अधिकार सम्पन्न वार्ता समिति बनाएको जनाए पनि उनीहरूले टोलीको नाम र्सार्वजनिक गरेका छैनन् । पत्रमा सहजकर्तामार्फ वार्ताको मिति र स्थान बिहीबार तय गर्न आग्रह गरिएको छ ।
उनीहरूले वार्ताको वातावरण बनाउन आफ्ना बन्दी साथीहरूको रिहाइ र मुद्दा खारेजीको माग गरेका छन् । 'वार्ता समितिको सुरक्षाको जिम्मेवार सरकारको रहने र औपचारिक वार्ता सुरु नभएसम्म आन्दोलनको निर्धारित कार्यक्रम यथावत् रहने' पत्रमा छ ।

हाँस्दै बिदा भइन् प्रकृति

दार्जिलिङकी १२ वर्षीया बालप्रतिभा प्रकृतिले जयपुरमा आयोजना गरिएको अन्तिम कार्यक्रममा दमदार आवाजमा स्टेज प्रस्तुति दिएर दर्शकको मन जित्न सफल भएकी थिइन् । अघिल्लो कार्यक्रममा निर्णायक कुनाल गन्जवालाले दिएको प्रकृति छोटे उस्ताद बन्न नसक्ने प्रतिक्रियाप्रति उनकी आमा रीताले कार्यक्रममै गुनासो पोखेकी थिइन्। सोही प्रतिक्रियाका कारण आफूलाई धेरैले प्रतियोगिता छाड्न भने तापनि आफू गोर्खाकी छोरी भएकाले अझ राम्रो गरेर देखाउने साहस लिएर कार्यक्रममा आएको बताउँदै प्रकृतिले बालमनोभावनालाई मनन गरेर मात्र बोलिदिन निर्णायकलाई अनुरोध गरिन्। पहाडी ड्रागनको उपनाम पाएकी प्रकृति कलकत्ताको अडिसनबाट ३ सयभन्दा बढी प्रतिस्पर्धीलाई उछिनेर उत्कृष्ट पाँचको छनोटमा परी मुम्बई पुगेकी हुन्। भविष्यमा पार्श्वगायिका बन्ने सपना साँचेकी प्रकृतिको नृत्य र अभिनय रुचिमा पर्छ।

इयूका ४० पर्यवेक्षक नेपालमा

काठमाडौं - युरोपेली संघ (इयू) का चालीस निर्वाचन पर्यवेक्षक नेपाल गयेका छन् । इयू पर्यवेक्षण मिसनको नेतृत्व युरोपेली संसद्का डच सदस्य जान मुल्डरले गरेका छन् । उनीहरूलाई मंगलबार दुइ-दुइ जनाको समूहमा नेपालभर खटाइने जानकारी इयू चुनावी पर्यवेक्षण मिसनले दिएको छ ।
इयू पर्यवेक्षकले ६२ जिल्ला समेट्ने छन् । थप दुई डुलुवा टोलीले अरू कम सुगम जिल्लाको भ्रमण गर्ने जानकारी मिसनले सोमबार जारी विज्ञप्तिमा छ ।

तराईका चार सशस्त्र समूह वार्ताका लागि तयार

यसअघि अशान्त तराईमा प्रमूख दलहरुले भाग लिने निर्णय गरेपघि चुनावी माहौल बढेको छ ।
तराईमा सशस्त्र संघर्षरत चारवटा संगठनले सरकारसित वार्ता गर्ने भएका छन् । सरकारले वार्ताका लागि औपचारिक रुपमा पत्र पठाएपछि ती संगठनहरु वार्तामा बस्न सहमत भएका हुन् ।
संयुक्त जनतान्त्रिक तराई मुक्ति मोर्चा, जनतान्त्रिक तराई मुक्ति मोर्चा, तराई कोब्रा र मधेशी तराई टाइगर्स सरकारसित वार्ता गर्न सहमत भएका छन् । चारवटै संगठनलाई सरकारले गत चैत सात गते वार्ताका लागि पत्र पठाए पनि ती संगठनहरुले ११ गते मात्र पत्र पाएको बताएका छन् ।
वार्ताको सरकारी पत्र पाएको जनाउँदै जनतान्त्रिक तराई मुक्ति मोर्चाका अध्यक्ष राजन मुक्तीले आफ्नो समूह वार्तामा जाने बताएका छन् ।
तर उनले चारवटै संगठनको संयुक्त वार्ता टोली गठन गरेपछि मात्र वार्ता प्रारम्भ हुने बताए ।
आफूहरु वार्ताका लागि हदै सम्म लचकता अपनाउन तयार रहेको र सरकारले वार्ताका लागि उपयुक्त वातावरण बनाउनु पर्ने धारणा उनले व्यक्त गरेका छन् ।
सरकारसित वार्तामा बस्नुलाई समेत संघर्षको एउटा कडी भन्दै मधेशको सवालमा सरकारको यथार्थ दृष्टिकोण सार्वजनिक हुने दावी उनले गरे । चार संगठनहरुको संयुक्त मोर्चा बनेको र वार्ताका लागि पहिले प्रतिनिधिहरु पठाइने उल्लेख गर्दै उनले भने, '' वार्तामा विदेशी मध्यस्थकर्ताहरु हुँदैन। वार्तामा तराईका मूलनिवासीहरुलाइ नै साक्षी राख्नपर्छ।''
सरकार इमान्दारीपूर्वक वार्तामा बसेर समस्या समाधान गर्न चाहन्छ भने संगठनहरु पछि नहट्ने उनको भनाई थियो । तर वार्ता कहिले र कहाँ सुरु हुने भन्ने विषयमा टुंगो लागि नसकेको मुक्तिले बताए ।
यस अघिपनि सरकारले सशस्त्र समुहहरुलाई वार्तामा आउन पटक पटक आग्रह गर्दै आएको थियो।
वार्तामा बस्न सहमति जनाएपनि ती संगठनहरुले संविधानसभाको चुनाव मधेश बिरोधी भएको दावी गरेका छन ।
चार संगठन वार्तामा आउन सहमत भएपनि सरकारले जनतान्त्रिक तराई मुक्ति मोर्चा (ज्वाला सिंह) र गोइतको नेतृत्वमा रहेको अखिल तराई मुक्ति मोर्चालाइ पत्र नपठाएको बुझिएको छ ।
यी संगठनहरुले विगत केहि वर्षदेखि तराईमा सशस्त्र संघर्ष गर्दै आएका छन् ।

सत्ताधारी गठबन्धन झडप रोक्न सहमत

चुनावी प्रचारको तीव्रतासंगै आपसी झडप र हमलामा उत्रिएका सातदलीय गठबन्धनका दलहरूले त्यस्ता घटनामा रोक लगाउने सहमति गरेका छन् । लामो अन्तरालपछि प्रधानमन्त्री निवास वालुवाटारमा सोमवार भएको शीर्ष बैठकले उक्त निर्णय गरेको हो ।
बैठकको बढी समय चुनावी अभियानको तीव्रतासंगै हुन थालेका एकअर्का माथिको हमला र आक्रमणको विषयमा खर्च भएको थियो । खासगरी नेपाली कांग्रेस र नेकपा एमालेका नेताहरुले अर्को सत्ता-सहयात्री दल नेकपा माओवादीको नेतृत्व सामु माओवादी गतिविधिप्रति तीव्र असन्तुष्टी ब्यक्त गरेका थिए ।

नेकपा एमालेका नेता राजेन्द्र पाण्डे भन्छन्, "त्यसपछि माओवादी नेतृत्वले कतिपय गल्ती कमजोरी स्वीकार गर्दै छानवीन हुनुपर्ने र आफ्ना कार्यकर्ताको हत्या श्रृंखलाबारे पनि गम्भीर हुनु पर्ने धारणा राखेको थियो ।" तर स्वच्छ प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्नेमा सहमति गरी बैठक सकेर नेताहरु निस्किंदा निस्किंदै चुनावी प्रचारमा हस्तक्षेप भएका खबरहरु पनि प्रकाशमा आएका छन् ।

झापामा चुनावी प्रचारको सिलसिलामा रहेका एमालेका वरिष्ठ नेता केपी शर्मा ओलीको गाडीमा ढुंगामुढा भएको छ । त्यसैगरी पोखरामा राप्रपा नेपालका अध्यक्ष तथा शाहीकालका गृहमन्त्री कमल थापा बोलिरहेको बेला सभामा आक्रमण भएको थियो । दुवै दलले घटनामा नेकपा माओवादीका कार्यकर्ताको हात रहेको आरोप लगाएका छन् ।
सातदलीय गठबन्धनको शीर्ष बैठकमा चुनावी तालमेल गरी बरिष्ठ नेताहरुलाई जिताउने बारेमा छलफल भएको थियो । "तर कुरा मात्रै भयो, गम्भीर छलफल नै भएन, त्यसबारे" एमाले नेता पाण्डेले बताए ।
यसअघि वाम तालमेलको चर्चा र प्रयास निकै भए पनि सातदलीय गठबन्धनको कुनै घटक बिरुद्ध तालमेल गर्न नहुने भन्दै वामदलबाटै त्यसको विरोध हुंदै आएको थियो । ठूला वामपन्थी दल नेकपा एमाले र माओवादीबीच त त्यही विषयलाई लिएर वाक् युद्ध नै हुने गरेको छ ।
एउटा अर्को घटनामा, नेपाली कांग्रेस भित्रको एउटा समूहले,उसकै शब्दमा, 'राष्ट्रिय एकता भंग हुने गम्भीर खतरा' रहेको अल्याँउदै सोमबार एउटा सार्वजनिक अपिल मार्फत संविधानसभा निर्वाचनमा अग्रसर सबैलाई त्यसतर्फ सचेत हुन आग्रह गरेको छ ।
केही साताको श्रृंखलाबद्ध छलफल र परामर्श पछि सोमवार अपिल सार्वजनिक गर्नेहरुको अगुवाइ पूर्व सभामुख तारानाथ रानाभाटले गरेका छन् । त्यसमा पूर्वमन्त्रीहरु विपिन कोइराला, मार्सल जुलुम शाक्य र ओमकार श्रेष्ठ लगायत २० जनाको हस्ताक्षर छ । काठमाण्डूस्थित बीबीसीका एकजना सम्वाददाता भन्छन्, बक्तव्यमा उल्लेख नगरे पनि संवैधानिक राजतन्त्रको पक्षपोषण गर्नु नै अपिल जारी गर्ने नेताहरुको अभिप्राय देखिन्छ ।

Number of new EU-State Workers coming Ireland down

Dublin- One of the reasons that the number of workers coming to Ireland from the new EU accession states is down is that many of the likely migrants are here already.
That's according to figures from the Department of Social and Family affairs. The number of PPS numbers issued to foreign workers was over 23,000 in the first two months of 2007; while that figure was almost 14,500 for the same period of this year.

Student Unions to take stand against racism

Dublin- Ireland's student unions are taking a stand against racism as the USI Annual Congress gets underway in Meath later today. The issues voted on during this week's congress will become the USI's policies for the next five years. Issues up for debate at the congress include ID cards, immigration policy opposition and the Lisbon Treaty, as well as the anti-racism message.

माओवादी नेता अग्नि सापकोटाले बुधबार एक कार्यक्रममा सो भेटघाट भएको जनाएका थिए । नेपाली सेना नेपालको भौगोलिक अखण्डता र र्सार्वभौमिकतामाथि खेलबाड गर्ने, प्रजातान्त्रिक पद्धतिविरुद्ध हतियार उठाउने र हतियारको राजनीतिमा विश्वास गर्दै प्रजातान्त्रिक पद्धतिलाई हतियारकै बलमा निर्देशित गर्न खोज्ने एवम् वर्तमान विश्वपरिवेशमा आतंकवाद, अतिवाद र उग्रवादमा विश्वास राख्दै त्यसैको आधारमा राज्यसत्ता कब्जा गर्न खोज्ने कुनै पनि तत्त्वसँग झुक्दैन र सम्झौता पनि गर्दैन’ -सैनिक जनसर्म्पर्क निर्देशनालयले बिहीबार नेपाली सेनाको अपिल’ शीषकमा जारी गरेको वक्तव्यमा उल्लेख छ ।

राष्ट्रमा अशान्ति र अस्थिरता कायमै राखी आफना कुत्सित स्वार्थ पूरा गर्ने दुष्प्रयासमा तल्लीन केही तत्त्वहरूले आफना कमीकमजोरी लुकाउन नेपाली सेनाका बारेमा आधारहीन चर्चा गरेर यसको नेतृत्ववर्गलाई समेत राजनीतिक विवादमा तान्न गरिरहेको कुचेष्टाको नेपाली सेना घोर भर्त्सना गर्दछ’, अपिलमा भनिएको छ- नेपाली सेनाको नाम जोडेर गलत प्रचारबाजी गर्ने क्रमलाई तत्काल अन्त्य गर्न सम्बन्धितहरूलाई बेलैमा स्पष्ट रूपमा सचेत तुल्याउँछ ।’ सो अपिलमा माओवादीको नाम भने उल्लेख गरिएको छैन।

Taxi driver dies after stabbing in west Dublin

Dublin-A taxi driver in his 30s has died after being stabbed in the Blanchardstown area of west Dublin last night. The attack happened in Fortlawn at around 10.30pm. The victim is believed to have been stabbed after pursuing a passenger who didn't pay his fare. No further information about the attack was immediately available.

New deal to allow Irish to work in Argentina

Dublin- Irish people aged less than 35 years can live and work in Argentina for up to nine months under a new agreement.The Holiday Working Agreement also allows Argentinian citizens to remain in Ireland for 12 months.Up to 100 people a year can avail of the arrangement, signed today by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern and his Argentinian counterpart, Jorge E Taiana.It is believed to be the first agreement of its kind with Argentina.Mr Ahern said the arrangement allows students to obtain a short-term work permit.

"The main purpose of the programme being put in place is to allow young people from both countries to gain a better understanding of the other country and each other and to build relationships for the future," he said."The value of this in growing the bilateral relationship into the future is clear."Trade between both countries was worth €110m in 2006.Ireland's main exports to Argentina include medical and pharmaceutical products, office and data processing machines and photography equipment.Argentina's main exports to Ireland include animal feedstuffs, oil, seeds and fruit and vegetables."Although total trade dropped significantly following the economic crisis in Argentina, we have now surpassed the highest pre-crisis trade figures.Mr Ahern, who was in Buenos Aires for St Patrick's Day events, also had a working lunch with Defence Minister Nillda Garre.

Five million mobile phones in use in Ireland

Dublin-There are now over five million mobile phones in use in Ireland, according to the latest figures. The latest report from the Communications Regulator has shown mobile phone users sent over 7.5 billion text messages last year.Total revenue for the communications market in 2007 was over €4.5bn.Broadband penetration was at just over 20% by the end of the year, despite the fact that broadband subscribers increased by over 11% to nearly 900,000 people.

Gardaí record 389 drink-driving incidents last week

Dublin- Up to 389 drink-driving incidents were recorded in the week leading up to St Patrick's Day, according to Garda statistics released this afternoon.The figure compares to 346 incidents in the previous week.A Garda spokesman confirmed enforcement activities in the area of road safety would continue as part of the 2008 Road Safety Campaign.

काठमाडौं - यस वर्षको एसएलसी परीक्षा भोलि सोमबार बिहान ८ बजेदेखि शुरू हुँदै छ ।
देशभरका ३ लाख ७८ हजार १ सय ३२ विद्यार्थी विद्यालय तहको अन्तिम परीक्षामा सामेल हुँदै छन् । नियमिततर्फ १ लाख ६८ हजार ३ सय ५३ छात्र र १ लाख ४५ हजार २ सय ६१ छात्रा परीक्षामा सहभागी हुने भएका छन् ।
त्यस्तै एक्जाम्टेडतर्फ २४ हजार २ सय ९५ छात्र र ३४ हजार १ सय ५६ छात्रा रहेको परीक्षा नियन्त्रण कार्यालय सानोठिमीले जनाएको छ । परीक्षा सञ्चालनको सम्पूर्ण तयारी पूरा भइसकेको परीक्षा नियन्त्रक हर्कप्रसाद श्रेष्ठले बताउनुभयो । यस वर्ष प्राइभेट नियमिततर्फ ५ हजार ७ सय ६ र एक्जाम्टेडतर्फ १ हजार ४ सय ८० विद्यार्थी रहेका छन् । परीक्षा सहज तरिकाले सञ्चालन गर्न देशभर १ हजार २ सय ९९ परीक्षाकेन्द्र कायम गरिएको छ । गत वर्षको तुलनामा यस वर्ष १ सय १३ केन्द्र वृद्धि गरिएको छ ।

सरकारले दूरशिक्षा माध्यमबाट देशभरका पाँच विद्यालयमा खुला माध्यमबाट अध्ययन गरेका १ सय १२ जना परीक्षार्थी यस वर्षको परीक्षामा सामेल भएका छन् । खुलामा छात्रतर्फ ३८ र छात्रातर्फ ७४ परीक्षार्थी एसएलसी परीक्षामा सामेल हुँदै छन् । यसै गरी काठमाडौं भ्याली स्कुलबाट अंग्रेजी माध्यमबाट पहिलो पटक दुई विदेशी विद्यार्थी परीक्षामा सहभागी हुँदै छन् ।

होली सुरु

काठमाडौं - राजधानीको वसन्तपुरमा शनिबार तीन तले चीर ठड्याएपछि मुलुकभर होली पर्व सुरु भएको छ । धार्मिक परम्पराअनुसार रङ्गीचङ्गी कपडाका टुक्राहरू झुन्ड्याएको चीर ठड्याएपछि हर्षबढाइ“साथ पूजा गरिएको थियो । चीर ठड्याएको हेन वसन्तपुर वरिपरि निकै र्सवसाधारण जम्मा भएका थिए ।

Garda crackdown on drink driving

Dublin- Gardai have begun their crackdown on dangerous drinving for the bank holiday weekend. Officers are paying particular attention to speeding and drink-driving during St Patrick's and Easter fesitivities. Extra checkpoints will be set up around the country. 70 people have been killed on our roads so far this year, up 14 on the same period in 2007. Last year 481 people were caught drink-driving over the St Patrick's holiday and 445 during Easter.

O'Searcaigh releases statement

Dublin- The Donegal poet Cathal O'Searcaigh, who is at the centre of a controversy surrounding his relationship with young men in Nepal, has released a statement in the wake of the 'Fairytale of Kathmandu' documentary.

The controversial documentary was screened on Tuesday of this week and focused on his relationships with a number of young men. Mr O'Searcaigh has explained that he has been deeply wounded by the film but is confident that in the fullness of time, he will be vindicated.

The statement went on to say that he was currently unable to discuss the matter publicly but needs time-out to reconsider his life and to work out a way to come to terms with his situation. He acknowledged the outrage felt by viewers of the film, expressing his sorrow for the hurt that has been caused. He concluded by saying that in due course, he will speak publicly and fully disclose and explain his actions.

Anti-war march taking place in Dublin

Dublin- A march is underway in Dublin city centre commemorating the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Anti-war campaigners are making their way from the Garden of Rememberance to the GPO on O'Connell Street, where speeches are being held.

It is one of a number of demonstrations taking place across the world today. The Labour Party's Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Michael D Higgins is one of those attending the Dublin march. He says there are many reasons for today's march including the continuing disaster of thousands of Iraqis dying everyday and the failure of the international community to address the siege of Gaza.

Motorists warned to be wary of flooding in Dublin

Dublin- Motorists in Dublin are being warned that there is heavy flooding on the main road through Kilternan by the Church of Ireland. Gardaí are at the scene and the County Council has been informed. AA Roadwatch says the road is almost impassable. Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution on approach.

Motorists urged to take care over St. Patrick's Weekend

Dublin- The Road Safety Authority is urging motorists to take care on the roads this bank holiday weekend. Extra Gardai are being deployed and drivers are being urged to slow down, and to never drink and drive. The Authority's Noel Brett says this weekend has been particularly bad for road deaths in recent years.

Amnesty International: Shannon Aiport has been used to rendition flights

Dublin- Amnesty International says it has evidence that Shannon Airport has been used to faciltate the extraordinary rendition.
The Human Rights Organisation has published a new report that claims Shannon has been used as a refuelling stop for planes carrying prisoners on so-called rendition flights.
The report is partly based on an interview with a man who was held without charge in secret CIA prisons for two and a half years. The Irish government has continuously denied that any rendition flights have passed through Shannon.

Another gloomy prediction for Ireland's economy

Dublin- Growth in the economy is set to hit a twenty year low. That's according to the latest quarterly report from the Government's think-tank, the ESRI. Employment growth will be zero this year, while those without jobs will be 6 per cent by the end of the year.
The downturn in house-building is seen as the main reason for the downturn - with GNP growth expected to be just 1 point 6 per cent. On the upside, the report also finds that employment and GNP growth should pick up in 2009.

Alcohol retailers urged to enforce ID requirements in Ireland

Dublin- Off-licences, pubs and shops selling alcohol are being urged to strictly enforce ID requirements over St Patrick's weekend. The call has been issued by MEAS, the group set up by the alcohol industry to promote responsible drinking. It is calling on all retailers to make a renewed effort to help reduce underage drinking. It also says off-licences should not engage in irresponsible drinks promotions or special deals.

Proposal to double penalty points over bank holidays

Dublin- The transport minister is considering a proposal to double penalty points on some driving offences committed over bank holidays.Under the plan, motorists breaking the rules over long weekends would get four points for speeding, and six points on their licences for drink driving.The double demerit scheme has been in place in Australia's New South Wales state since 1997.The suggestion's come from the government chief whip Tom Kitt.

St Patrick's festival kicks off

Dublin- Dublin’s St Patrick’s Festival kicks off today with a fun-filled five-day line up.Highlights include a funfair on Merrion Square West from March 13-17, the Big Day Out-Street Theatre at Merrion Square South, West, Fitzwilliam Street Lower and Merrion Street on March 16 and the St Patrick’s Day parade.Gardaí have advised festival-goers to use public transport to get to events but if driving to park cars in designated areas.“An Garda Síochána have consulted widely with the community with a view to minimising the disruption to the public generally and in particular those residents and business people in the affected areas,” a spokesman said.

कान्तिपुर कार्यालयमा विस्फोट

विराटनगर - कान्तिपुर पब्लिकेसन्सको विराटनगर क्षेत्रीय कार्यालयमा बुधबार साझ बम विस्फोट गराइएको छ । उपमहानगरपालिका-४ मा रहेको पब्लिकेसन्स कार्यालयमा साझ ७:२५ मा भएको विस्फोटले क्षति भने भएन । विस्फोटका बेला लोडसेडिङ थियो । लगत्तै पुगेका प्रहरीका अनुसार सकेट बम विस्फोट गराइएको हो । कार्यालय भवनको दक्षिण पट्टीबाट फ्याकियेको बम गोदाम घरनजिक विस्फोट भएको थियो ।

तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनका शहीद तय

काठमाडौं - सरकारले तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनमा मृत्यु भएका ३०, नेपाल प्रहरीका एक र सशस्त्र प्रहरीका एकसमेत कुल ३२ जनालाई एकमुष्ट रूपमा शहीद घोषणा गरेको छ । गृह मन्त्रालयद्वारा सोमबार जारी गरिएको वक्तव्यमा २०६३ माघ महिनामा भएको तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनमा २४ र २०६४ फागुनमा ६ जनासमेत ३० जनाको मृत्यु भएको जनाइएको छ ।

यस्तै २०६३ माघको आन्दोलनमा मृत्यु भएका नेपाल प्रहरीका एक जनालाई नेपाल प्रहरी शहीद र २०६४ फागुनको तराई आन्दोलनमा मृत्यु भएका सशस्त्र प्रहरीका एक जनालाई सशस्त्र प्रहरी शहीद घोषणा गरिएको वक्तव्यमा उल्लेख छ । यसरी २०६३ माघको तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनमा शहीद हुनेमा मोरङका राजकुमार कामत, तलुहस्दा भन्ने तलु हेमरम, निर्मल राजवंशी, सदानन्द यादव र दीनदयाल मण्डल, सुनसरीका हरि मेहता र श्यामसुन्दर मेहता, सर्लाहीका रामएकवाल राय, आशिष अली मिकरानी, रामनारायण साह, सञ्जयकुमारराय यादव र दिनेशराय यादव रहनुभएको छ ।

त्यसै गरी पर्साबाट महावीर साह, दीपेन्द्र साह र वीरबल मुखिया, सिरहाबाट रमेशकुमार महतो, बेचन यादव, मोहम्मद अनिस, प्रमोद सदाय र विजयकुमार सहनी, बाराबाट असरफ भन्ने शेख अब्दुल अनसनी र मजिर मिया भन्ने मजिद महम्मद, महोत्तरीबाट राजेशकुमार ठाकुर र धनुषाबाट शिवशंकर यादव रहनुभएको छ । त्यसै गरी यही फागुनको तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनमा शहीद हुनेमा सुनसरीका बिस्कुट मिया, सिरहाका सम्झना राई र राजेश ठाकुर, नवलपरासीका जगदीश पासवान (कतवारु), सप्तरीका गुल्टेन दास र बाँकेका गुल्जार खाँ रहनुभएको छ ।

२०६३ माघ महिनाको तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनमा नेपाल प्रहरी तर्फबाट मोरङका प्रनानि नरेशजंग कार्की र यही फागुनको तराई-मधेस आन्दोलनमा सशस्त्र प्रहरीका तर्फबाट सप्रब हबलदार शुक्रलाल माझीको मृत्यु भएकोमा उहाँहरूलाई पनि शहीद घोषणा गरिएको छ।

२० शरणार्थी अमेरिका लगियो

काठमाडौं - भुटानी शरणार्थीलाई अमेरिका लैजाने क्रममा शनिश्चरे शिविरका चार परिवारका २० जनाको पहिलो टोली सोमबार अमेरिका प्रस्थान गरेको छ । सो टोलीमा केटाकेटीदेखि युवायुवतीसम्म रहेका छन् । उनीहरूलाई त्रिभुवन अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विमानस्थलसम्म कडा सुरक्षाका साथ लगिएको थियो भने सञ्चारकर्मीलाई सम्पर्कमा जान बन्देज लगाइएको थियो । तथापि अमेरिका जान लागेकी किशोरी अम्बिका तिमल्सिनाले अमेरिका जान पाएकोमा सञ्चारकर्मीसँग खुसी व्यक्त गरेकी थिइन् ।

सोमबार अमेरिका प्रस्थान गर्नेहरूमा युवराज कोइराला, मनोरथ कोइराला, वेदिनी तिमल्सिना, डिल्लीराम रिजाललगायतका रहेका छन् । अमेरिकाले ६० हजार भुटानी शरणार्थीलाई अमेरिका लग्ने घोषित नीतिअनुरूप सोमबार पहिलो पटक २० शरणार्थी लगिएका हुन् । अन्य शरणार्थीलाई क्रमशः अमेरिका लगिने जनाइएको छ । अमेरिका सरकारको शरणार्थी हेर्ने निकायले अहिले शिविरमा शरणार्थी छनोट कार्य गरिरहेको छ । भुटानी शरणार्थीलाई विभिन्न सात राष्ट्रले लग्ने गरी कोर ग्रुप’ खडा गरिएको छ भने उक्त समूहको नेपालस्थित अमेरिकी दूतावासले संयोजन गर्दै आएको छ ।

भुटानी शरणार्थीको पहिलो लट गुपचुप अमेरिका लगिएकोमा भुटान पिपुल्स पार्टीका अध्यक्ष बलराम पौडेलले सोमबार झापाबाट कुरा गर्दै भन्नुभयो-साथीभाइसँग बिदावारी भएर जाने वातावरण पनि नदिइएकोमा दुःख लागेको छ । चोरेर लगेजस्तो किन गर्नु परेको बुझन सकिएको छैन । अमेरिका जाने शरणार्थीलाई नेपाल सरकारका तर्फबाट उपलब्ध गराइएको ट्राभल डकुमेन्ट’ पनि विमानस्थलमै छोडेर जानुपर्ने व्यवस्था गरिएको सुन्नमा आएको बताउँदै पौडेलले भन्नुभयो- १७ वर्ष नेपालमा बसेको चिनो एकातर्फ छोड्नुपर्ने अवस्था भएको छ भने अर्कातर्फ उक्त पर्मिट’ दुरुपयोग हुन सक्ने अवस्थाले पनि हामी चिन्तित भएका छौं।’

शरणार्थीको नेतृत्व पंक्तिले तेस्रो देशमा लाने कुराको यसअघिदेखि नै विरोध गर्दै आएको छ ।

छोटे उस्तादमा प्रकृतिको लडाइँ

भारतमा नेपाली एकताको बलियो उदाहरण बन्न पुगेका इन्डियन आइडल प्रशान्त तामाङको पथलाई पछ्याउँदै छिन् दार्जिलिङकै नेपाली मूलकी बालप्रतिभा प्रकृति गिरी ।

टेलिभिजन कार्यक्रम भ्वाइस अफ इन्डियाको छोटे उस्तादमा प्रकृति विभिन्न आरोहअवरोह पार गर्दै उत्कृष्ट चारमा पुगेकी छन् । प्रकृतिको गायनप्रतिभालाई कार्यक्रममा जुरीले कम अंक दिए पनि भोटिङको बलमै उनी टप फोरमा पुग्न सफल भएकी हुन् । एक पटक प्रतियोगिताबाट बाहिरिइसकेको अवस्थामा प्रकृतिले वाइल्ड कार्डमार्फत पुनः प्रवेश पाएकी थिइन् ।

प्रशान्तलाई इन्डियन आइडल बनाउन उनको पक्षमा विभिन्न ठाउँका क्याम्पेनिङमा गीत गाउँदै हिँडेर लोकप्रियता कमाइसकेकी प्रकृतिले छोटे उस्तादमा आफ्ना लागि हरेक पटक नेपाली भाषामै भोट माग्दै आएकी छन् । पहाडी ड्रयागन उपनाम पाएकी प्रकृतिको स्वरले छोटे उस्तादमार्फत हरेक हप्ता विश्वलाई मोहित बनाइरहेको छ । सुरिलो स्वरकी धनी प्रकृति सरल र मिजासिलो स्वभावकी छन् ।

दार्जिलिङलगायत भारतकै नेपालीबासीको बाहुल्य भएका अन्य ठाउँ तथा नेपाल र विश्वका कुना-कुनाबाट फ्यान क्लब गठन गरी उनलाई दर्शकमत हाल्ने लहर चलेको छ । दार्जिलिङ हरिदास अड्डानिवासी १२ वर्षीया प्रकृति लोरेटो कन्भेन्सन स्कुलमा कक्षा ७ मा अध्ययनरत छिन् । नरेश र मञ्जु गिरीकी तेस्रो सन्तान प्रकृतिले तीन वर्षको उमेरदेखि नै स्थानीय सुरसरगम स्कुलबाट धिरेन लामा र रोशन शाहमार्फत संगीत सिक्दै आएकी थिइन् । हाल प्रदीप क्षत्रीबाट प्रशिक्षित उनी संगीतको चौथो वर्षा अध्ययनरत छिन् । प्रकृति कलकत्ताको अडिसनबाट ३ सयभन्दा बढी प्रतिस्पर्धीलाई उछिन्दै उत्कृष्ट पाँचको छनोटमा परी मुम्बई पुगेकी हुन् । भविष्यमा पार्श्वगायिक बन्ने सपना साँचेकी प्रकृतिको नृत्य र अभिनयमा विशेष रुचि छ । छोटे उस्ताद कार्यक्रमका निर्णायक तथा बलिउडका चर्चित गायक, गायिका र संगीतकार प्रीतम चक्रवर्ती, श्रेया घोषाल र कुनाल गन्जवालाले उत्कृष्ट १२ प्रतियोगी छनोट गरेका थिए । त्यसपछि जुरीको ५० र दर्शकमत ५० का आधारमा प्रतियोगीको छनोट गरिँदै आएको छ ।

भैंसेपाटीस्थित राजदूत टोरेङको निवासमा नकाब लगाएका २० भन्दा बढीको संख्यामा रहेका लुटेराहरूले राजदूतका आधा दर्जन सुरक्षागार्डलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिई शुक्रबार मध्यरातमा लुटपाट मच्चाएका थिए । लुटेराहरूले नेपाली रुपियाँ, अमेरिकी डलर र युरोलगायतको रकम तथा ल्यापटप कम्प्युटर, भिडियो क्यामरा, स्काई तथा स्याटलाइट फोनसमेत लुटेर लगेको महानगरीय प्रहरी परिसर ललितपुरका प्रमुख पशुपति उपाध्यायले जानकारी दिनुभयो ।

सो समूहले राजदूत टोरेङका एक सहयोगीलाई समेत हतियार देखाई राजदूत बसेको कोठा देखाउन चेतावनी दिएको थियो । डाँकाहरूको समूहले राजदूत टोरेङलाई समेत नियन्त्रणमा लिएर १० मिनेटभित्र त्यहाँ रहेको धनमाल लुटेको बताइएको छ । प्रहरी परिसर ललितपुरले उक्त घटनाको छानबिन र अपराधी पत्ता लगाउन सोही परिसरका प्रहरी नायब उपरीक्षक शरद्कुमार खत्रीको संयोजकत्वमा टोली गठन गरेको छ।

Residents in the Dublin brace themselves for possible flooding

Dublin- Sandbags have been put down on coastal areas around the capital-amid fears of flooding. A number of temporary road closures have also been announced.
High tides are expected along the east coast tonight, with waters set to rise in the following days.
The Irish Coastguard is advising people to stay away from coastal areas after warnings of severe gale force winds. And Met Eireann is warning drivers to expect difficult conditions on roads around the country.

जापानमा कामदार पठाइने

काठमाडौं - नेपाल सरकारले जापानमा नेपाली कामदार पठाउने प्रक्रिया अघि बढाएको छ । श्रम तथा यातायात व्यवस्था मन्त्रालयले जापानलाई आवश्यक कामदार पठाउन तयार भएको भन्दै औपचारिक पत्र पठाएको छ ।
जापान इन्टरनेसनल टेनिङ कोअपरेसन अर्गनाइजेसन -जिटको) को नियमअनुसार कामदार पठाउन तयार भएको जापान सरकारलाई पत्राचार गरेका हौं, सचिव श्यामप्रसाद मैनालीले भने । उनले जिटकोको प्रशिक्षार्थी नेपाली कामदार लैजाने प्रस्तावलाई र्समर्थन गर्दै नेपाली नियोगमार्फ जापान सरकार र जिटकोलाई सहमतिपत्र जापान पठाएको जानकारी दिए । सरकार र जिटकोबीच झन्डै तीन महिनादेखि दक्ष र अर्धदक्ष नेपाली प्रशिक्षार्थी कामदार लैजान छलफल भएको थियो ।
जापानले नेपालबाट प्रशिक्षार्थी कामदार लैजान सन् २००३ मा सरकारले नेपाल उद्योग वाणिज्य महासंघलाई कामदार छनोट गरी पठाउने जिम्मेवारी दिएको थियो । महासंघले जापानमा कामदारको माग नभएको भन्दै अहिलेसम्म पठाउन सकेको छैन ।
महासंघले नसकेपछि अरू एजेन्सीमार्फ कामदार लैजाने निर्णय सरकारले झन्डै तीन महिनाअघि गरेको थियो । सरकारी माध्यमबाट प्रशिक्षार्थी कामदार पठाउनेबारे चार वर्षघिको द्विपक्षीय सहमति कार्यान्वयन नभएपछि प्रक्रिया परिवर्तन गरी मेनपावर एजेन्सीलाई पनि खुला गर्न लागिएको हो । जापानलाई नया“ आकर्ष गन्तव्यका रूपमा विकास गर्न पुनः दुवै देश सहमत भएका छौं, अब छिट्टै कामदार पठाउने प्रक्रिया सुरु हुन्छ, मैनालीले भने । जापानका लागि नेपाली राजदूत गणेश योन्जनले प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक वातावरण तयार गर्न केही समयअघि आग्रह गरेका थिए ।
जापान जाने प्रशिक्षार्थी कामदार तीन वर्षम्म त्यहाका विभिन्न उद्योगमा काम गर्न पाउनेछन् । सन् २००९ पछि जापान जाने कामदाको कार्यावधि पाच वर्षहुनेछ । निर्धारित अवधिपछि स्वदेश फर्केर देशको औद्योगिक विकासमा समेत टेवा पुर्‍याउने उद्देश्यले जापानले यो कार्यक्रम अघि बढाएको हो ।
डेढ दशकदेखि प्रशिक्षार्थी कामदार लिदै आएको जापानले दक्षिण अमेरिकी राष्ट्र पेरु र १५ एसियाली मुलुकबाट हालसम्म १३ लाख प्रशिक्षार्थी कामदार लिइसकेको छ । जापानमा आगामी दुइ वर्षभत्र विदेशीलाई १७ लाखभन्दा बढी रोजगारीका अवसर छन् ।
नेपालका साथै भारत, बंगलादेश, इन्डोनेसिया, थाइल्यान्ड, भियतनाम, फिलिपिन्स, श्रीलंका, चीनलगायत मुलुकका नागरिकले यो अवसर पाउनेछन् ।

Ferries cancelled after weather warning

Dublin- A number of Irish sea ferry crossings have been cancelled today following warnings of severe gale force weather. As Ireland braces itself for a stormy weekend, Irish Ferries said its Swift service from Dublin to Holyhead would not sail today.
All other ferry services are expected to sail on schedule. Last night a flood warning was issued to householders living along the Dublin city coastline. High tides are expected along the east coast tonight, with waters set to rise in the following days. Sandbags have been put down on coastal areas round Dublin and a number of temporary road closures have been announced.

The Liffey boardwalk and nine coastal roads will be closed at high tide tomorrow night and on Monday morning.Independent TD Finian McGrath called for vigilance and urged residents to block their driveway and access to their property.“High tides are expected over the coming few days, in particular on Monday morning,” he said.“As a precaution, sandbags will be made available in the next day or so to householders who may be vulnerable to flooding as a result of these high tides.“You are advised, where possible, to block your driveway and access to your property.”Gale force winds of between 120 or 130 km/h are predicted, with rainfall of about 20-30mm expected overnight on Sunday.Met Eireann has warned drivers to expect difficult conditions on roads around the country.

Two dead in separate car accidents in Finglas

Dublin- Two people have died in separate road accidents in Finglas in Dublin this morning. A seven-year-old boy lost his life when he was struck by an unmarked Garda car on the main N2.The accident happened opposite the Clearwater Shopping Centre at around 11am this morning.His remains have been removed to Temple Street Children's Hospital.In a earlier incident a man in his 20s died after his car collided with a truck on the Cappagh Road.

New development could bring 600 jobs to Wicklow

Dublin- Planning permission was granted today for a major tourism project at Humewood Castle and Estate worth around €250m.Developers Lalco claim it will lead to 400 jobs during the construction phase, with a further 200 expected when the development is operational.The development will involve a restoration of the 19th Century Humewood castle, placing it at the centre of a five-star hotel.Lalco expects to commence the castle restoration this year, with the entire project due for completion by 2010. Lalco will also develop a spa and banqueting facility to cater for up to 350 guests.
The project also includes 57 luxurious serviced tourist lodges to be located throughout Humewood Estate in defined small clusters.This will comprise a mix of three- and four-bedroom farmyard and lakeside lodges to be completed on a phased basis by 2010.American golf architect Kyle Philips will design an 18-hole course for the estate to include an indoor golf clinic, driving range and club-house facilities."The renovation of Humewood will be of significant benefit to the local community in Kiltegan and the wider Wicklow area," said Lalco chief executive John Lally."We are making a substantial long-term investment to create an exclusive tourist destination for the region. We intend to be fully sympathetic to the heritage and history of Humewood Estate and have worked closely with Wicklow County Council and local tourism interests to ensure our plans reflect this."Our overriding aim is to restore Humewood to its former glory allowing a new generation to experience its character and charm".

N11 opens after €34m upgrade

Dublin- A €34m upgrade on the N11 in Co Wicklow officially opens today।The Kilpedder interchange will ease traffic congestion in Delgany cutting the number of cars in the village by a quarter.It is hoped the new junction will also cater for increased traffic to and from Greystones when 3,000 planned houses are built on the edge of the town.The interchange will link the Greystones southern access route to the N11 and allow traffic to move east-west on and off the N11 serving Delgany, Kilpedder, Kilquade and Willow Grove.Local TD Dick Roche, Minister for European Affairs, will officially open the road.

मधेसका क्षेत्रीय दलहरूले सेनामा आफ्नो समुदायको सहभागितालाई प्रमुख मुद्दा बनाएका छन् । सरकार संयुक्त लोकतान्त्रिक मधेसी मोर्चाबीच हालै सम्पन्न सम्झौतामा मधेसी लगायतका समुदायको नेपाली से नामा प्रवेश ग्यारेन्टी गर्ने उल्लेख छ ।

अधिकतम संख्यामा मधेसी युवा भर्ना गर्ने उद्देश्यले र्सलाहीको नवलपुरस्थित अर्जुनबाण गणमा भर्ना लिइएको थियो । मुख्यालय स्रोतका अनुसार १ हजार ७ सय ३३ जनाले आवेदन गरेकोमा १ सय ९३ मात्र मधेसी थिए । १ सय ७१ आदिवासी -थारू, दनुवार), ४ सय ६८ जनजाति, ६१ प्ाहाडे दलित

थिए भने र्सवाधिक ८ सय ४० बाहुन, क्षेत्री थिए ।

गणले बुधबार प्रकाशित गरेको अन्तिम नतिजाअनुसार २३ मधेसी, २८ आदिवासी, ५४ जनजाति, ८ दलित तथा ८ सय ४० बाहुन, क्षेत्री तालिमका लागि छनोट भएका छन् । कुल आवेदकमध्ये मधेसी, जनजाति, दलितका १२/१२ प्रतिशत छनोट भएका छन् । बाहुन, क्षेत्री २० र आदिवासी १७ प्रतिशत छनोट भएका छन् । 'आवेदकमै मधेसीहरूको संख्या न्यून भएकाले छनोट संख्या पनि स्वतः कम भयो,' सैन्य स्रोतले भन्यो ।

त्यस्तै मुख्यालयमै हालै लिइएको अधिकृत तहको परीक्षा पनि आवेदकमध्ये ८ प्रतिशतमात्र मधेसी समुदायका थिए । स्रोतका अनुसार ४ हजार ९ सय ९३ मध्ये ७६ जना मधेसी आवेदक थिए । मधेसी समुदायभन्दा बढी १ सय १० जनाको आवेदन पहाडे दलित समुदायबाट परेको थियो । सबैभन्दा बढी बाहुन, क्षेत्री समूहबाट ३ हजार ८ सय ८३ -७६ प्रतिशत) आवेदन परेको थियो भने जनजातिबाट १ हजार १ सय २९

-१३ प्रतिशत) को आवेदन परेको थियो । भर्ना छनोटको अन्तिम नतिजा आउन बा“की छ ।

सरकारले सेनामा ४५ प्रतिशत आरक्षण गर्ने निर्ण्र्ाागरे पनि कानुन संशोधनलगायतका गृहकार्य पूरा भइसकेको छैन । सेना प्रवेशमा मधेसी समुदायलाई अघोषित प्रतिबन्ध लगाइएको मधेसवादी दलहरूको आरोप छ ।

Buffett topples Gates as richest man in the world

Dublin- US financier Warren Buffett has overtaken Bill Gates as the world's richest man, according to Forbes annual billionaire's list, which this year saw Russia, China and India making increasing inroads.
Buffett, the 77-year-old chief of the Berkshire Hathaway holding company, saw his wealth jump from $52 billion last year to $62 billion, pushing Microsoft co-founder Gates into third position after 13 years at the top.
Mexico's telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helu grabbed second place with a tidy nest egg of $60 billion, up from $49 billion last year.

Five Irish businessmen also make the list. Sean Quinn and family come in at number 164 with an estimated fortune of $6 billion. He is followed by John Dorrance 111, ranked 428 and with riches of $2.7 billion and Dermot Desmond who has €2.5 billion and is ranked at 462. Denis O'Brien, with a fortune of €2.2 billion is 553 in the list, while Anthony O'Reilly is placed at 677 with assets worth €1.8 billion.

Two rescued from fire on North Circular Road

Dublin- Two people were rescued from a residential building on the North Circular Road in Dublin that caught fire overnight. Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade tackled the blaze at Delia House. The fire was reported shortly after 3am.
Members of Dublin Fire Brigade rescued the two people. The two escaped serious injury and were treated at the scene by ambulance staff. Garda technical experts will today examine the premises to establish the cause of the fire.

Plans for new Child detention centre

Dublin- The Irish government's planning a major new child detention centre to take almost all young offenders out of the state's prison system.

It's reported an expert group has advised the government that the complex should be built in Lusk, north Dublin. About 145 million euro has been set aside in the National Development Plan for the setting up of such a facility. The Irish Times this morning says the recommendations from the expert group will be published later today.

High Irish iPhone charges highlighted

Dublin- The o2 mobile phone company has defended subscription charges faced by Irish customers who sign up to use the Apple iPhone.
The usage limits on various tariffs in Ireland differ significantly to those available to o2 iPhone customers in Northern ireland.
There have been calls for a boycott of the devices when they go on sale next week until the discrepancies are addressed.
iPhone tariffs north and south of the border are divided into three price brackets. All customers have to sign up to an 18 month contract.
In Northern Ireland, users paying £35 sterling (€45.65) get 600 minutes of call time and 500 texts.
By contrast the basic €45 subscription here gives only 175 minutes and 100 texts.
Northern subscribers on the middle tariff of £45 (€58.70) get 1,200 minutes and 500 texts, compared to the 350 minutes and 150 texts for people paying €65 a month in Ireland.
The high end subscription of £75 sterling (€97.83) gives users 3,000 minutes of talk time and 500 texts. In the Republic of Ireland, o2's highest iPhone tariff costs €100 and gives 700 minutes and 250 texts per month.
In addition, Irish consumers using the iPhone to access the internet are subject to a 1gb data limit each month, before extra charges are applied, regardless of their subscription plan.
In the UK, users on all tariffs have unlimited data allowances.
The Cork based Cubic Telecom company says consumers in Ireland should demand that the tariff dirrerences are addressed.
It says the pricing structure for o2 customers here is unacceptable. The company plans to release a guide telling people how to buy iPhones outside of Ireland and unlock them to work on any network.
In response, o2 has defended the monthly charges it plans to introduce. In a statement this evening, the compnay said that while the price plans here varied to those on offer in the UK, they were comparable to those in other EU countries where the iPhone has been launched.
o2 claims the Irish tariffs represent excellent value, compared to other smart phone device offers currently on the marketplace in Ireland.
Tariffs in France and Germany - where the iPhone was launched last year - are broadly in line with those on offer in Ireland but users are entitled to unlimited data transfers as part of their subscriptions. o2 says the 1gb limit for Irish subscribers equates to a huge amount of data for the average user.

Rail disruption continues today

Dublin- Rail passengers are today facing further disruption as a dispute between Irish Rain management and unions continues.

Talks between both sides ended without agreement last night - meaning one evening service between Dublin and Carlow - and a morning train between Portlaoise and Heuston are again cancelled today. 10 services between Dublin City and the greater Dublin area were yesterday cancelled due to drivers' illness. The company says workers are taking unofficial action over rostering and efficencies.
Barry Kenny from Irish Rail says he doesn't expect the same level of disruption as yesterday.

काठमाडौं - नेपाली कांग्रेसका छ र राप्रपाका एक गरी सात सांसद पार्टी परित्याग गरी सोमबार मधेसी जनअधिकार फोरम प्रवेश गरेका छन् । तिनमा विजयकुमार गच्छेदार, शरदसिंह भण्डारीसहित लक्ष्मण मेहता, रामजनम चौधरी, मंगलप्रसाद थारू र हरिनारायण चौधरी छन् ।
कांग्रेसका शुक्रराज संयोक र महासमिति सदस्य अर्जुन थापा पनि फोरम प्रवेश गरेका छन् । राप्रपाका अभिषेकप्रताप साह पनि फोरम प्रवेश गरेका छन् । यसअघि गच्छेदार र भण्डारीले मधेसको समस्या समाधान नगरी संविधानसभा निर्वाचनको औचित्य नहुने भन्दै कांग्रेसले दिएको प्रत्यक्ष निर्वाचनको उम्मेदवारी बहिष्कार गरेका थिए । 'कांग्रेसको छत्रछायामा आदिवासी, मधेसी, जनजाति तथा दलितको आवाज कुल्चिने प्रयास भयो,' सोमबार पत्रकार सम्मेलन गरी गच्छेदारले भने- 'कांग्रेसले अझै पनि संघीयता र समावेशीयुक्त राज्यको रूपान्तरण प्रक्रिया आत्मसात् गर्न सकेको छैन ।'
गच्छेदारले सात दल यथास्थितिवादी रहेको आरोपसमेत लगाए । फोरम तर्राईवासी र आदिवासी जनजातिको पार्टी भएको उल्लेख गर्दै फोरमका संयोजक उपेन्द्र यादवले मधेसमा बस्ने पहाडे मूलका व्यक्ति पनि मधेसी भएको बताए ।
भण्डारीले भने मधेस आन्दोलन भूगोलको लडाइ भएको विचार व्यक्त गर्दै मधेसमा बसोबास गर्ने सबै जनताको पार्टी भएकाले आफू फोरम प्रवेश गरेको बताए ।
कांग्रेस स्रोतअनुसार गच्छेदारले प्रधानमन्त्रीसग कांग्रेसबाट प्रत्यक्षमा १२ र समानुपातिकमा १३ स्थानको माग गरेका थिए । त्यसपछि उनी तर्राई मधेस लोकतान्त्रिक पार्टी संग पनि छलफलमा थिए ।

अनमिनको हेलिकप्टर दुर्घटना

रामेछाप - नेपालस्थित संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघीय मिसन -अनमिनको हेलिकप्टर सोमबार रामेछापको बेथानमा दुघटनाग्रस्त हुदा १० जनाको मृत्यु भएको छ । त्यसमा सवार दुइ जनाको अवस्था अज्ञात छ । हेलिकप्टरमा १२ जना थिए । प्रहरी स्रोतका अनुसार मृत्यु हुनेमा चालक दलका सदस्यहरू रोइसेन्को, मेलिसेभ र प्राविधिक एन्सिकोभ कर्मचारीहरू राजेश महर्जन, भीमबहादुर गुरुङ, रवीन्द्र खनिया, मेस्नोरिभोल्ड, टारेभेजोम्थ, ह्योङ जुन्रापार्क, सोन्डा ङरिवन छन् ।
उद्धारकार्यमा खटिएका बेथान उच्च माध्यमिक विद्यालयका शिक्षक दीपक उप्रेतीका अनुसार मृत्यु भएका अधिकांशको शव क्षतविक्षत अवस्थामा भेटिएको छ । कसैको पनि पहिचान हुन सकेको छैन । स्थानीय बासिन्दाले बल्दै गरेको हेलिकप्टरबाट शव निकालेका थिए ।
सिन्धुलीको दुधौलीबाट काठमाडौं जादै गरेको एमआई-१७ हेलिकप्टर आकाशमै आगो लागेर झरेको प्रत्यक्षदर्शीले बताए । उनीहरूका अनुसार चट्याङ लागेर हेलिकप्टरमा आगलागी भएको हो । अपराह्न साढे ४ बजे राजधानी आइपुग्नुपर्ने हेलिकप्टर ४ बजेर ६ मिनेटसम्म सर्म्पर्कमा रहेको उड्डयन प्राधिकरणले जनाएको छ । हेलिकप्टर खस्नेबित्तिकै स्थानीय बासिन्दा उद्धार कार्यमा जुटेका
थिए । करिब ६० जना उद्धारकर्मीले साझसम्म घटनास्थलमा थप खोजी कार्य जारी राखेका छन् । हेलिकप्टरमा साझ अबेरसम्म आगो बलिरहेको उद्धारमा संलग्न स्थानीयवासीले बताए । मौसम प्रतिकूल भएकाले उद्धारका लागि थप जनशक्ति पुग्न कठिन भएको छ । नजिकको बेथान प्रहरी कार्यालयबाट सात जना प्रहरी घटनास्थल पुगेका छन् ।

Two men killed in Dublin collision

Dublin- Two men have been killed in a road traffic collision on the N7 Naas Road at Citywest.
The collision happened at around 6am this morning when a Fiat Punto travelling the wrong way down the southbound side of the N7 struck a Honda coming the other direction.
The 19-year-old man from Palmerstown and his 20-year-old companion from Clondalkin, who were in the Fiat, were pronounced dead at Tallaght hospital. A 27-year-old off-duty garda, who was the sole occupant of the Honda, and who was on his way home to Naas after completing a shift, was also injured and was brought to the same hospital. He remains seriously ill there tonight.

स्नातकोत्तरपछि स्वयंसेवक शिक्षक

समितिले यसका लागि अध्ययन अनुसन्धान गरी केही दिनभित्रै रिपोर्ट बुझाउने र त्यसमाथि शिक्षा मन्त्रालयसहित सम्बन्धित निकायहरूबीच छलफल गरिने आयोगका अध्यक्ष डा. कमलकृष्ण जोशीले जानकारी दिए । स्नातकोत्तर गर्ने युवाबीच प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्राई छनोट गरिने उनले बताए ।
के-कतिलाई पठाउने भन्नेबारे भने निर्णय भएको छैन । हरेकले गाउमा दस महिना बस्नुपर्ने छ । समितिले अन्तिमरूप दिएको स्वयंसेवक परिचालनको ढाचा एवं निर्देशिका केही दिनमै छलफलमा ल्याइने र यसै वर्षेखि लागू गरिनेछ । यस्ता शिक्षकले गाउमा बस्दा शिक्षकको विषयगत रूपमा समुदायको आर्थिक, सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, भाषिक क्षेत्रको अध्ययन गर्नुपर्नेछ ।

Rail disruption continues as talks begin

Dublin- The Labour Relations Commission is due to hold talks with Iarnród Eireann and train drivers' unions today in an effort to resolve a rostering dispute that is set to cause more rail disruption today.The 6.30am Portlaoise to Dublin train was cancelled this morning as a result of the row, while this evening's 5.30pm service from Dublin to Carlow has also been scrapped.The dispute also led to cancellations over the weekend, with buses hired to cover gaps in the service in Cork and Kerry.Iarnród Eireann says it is disappointed that the disruption is happening while talks on the matter are still ongoing.

अरुण तेस्रो आयोजना सतलजलाई

काठमाडौं- बहुप्रतीक्षित अरुण तेस्रो जलविद्युत् आयोजना निर्माण एवम् विद्युत् उत्पादनको जिम्मा सरकारले भारतको सतलज जलविद्युत् निगमलाई दिएको छ ।

सरकारले निर्धारण गरेको मापदण्डबमोजिम निःशुल्क विद्युत् दिन तयार भएपछि अरुण-३ को निर्माण एवम् विद्युत् उत्पादनको जिम्मा सतलजले पाएको हो । सतलज भारत सरकारको स्वामित्वमा सञ्चालित निगम हो । सो आयोजना कार्यान्वयन गराउन सरकार र सतलजबीच आइतबार सहमतिपत्रमा हस्ताक्षर भयो । सहमतिपत्रमा सरकारी वार्ताटोलीका संयोजक तथा जलस्रोत मन्त्रालयका सहसचिव अनुपकुमार उपाध्याय तथा सतलजका तर्फबाट उपमहाप्रबन्धक सञ्जय उप्पलले हस्ताक्षर गर्नुभयो । सहमतिसँगै लामो समयदेखि चर्चामा रहेको ४ सय २ मेगावाटको अरुण-३ जलविद्युत् आयोजना निर्माण हुने भएको छ ।

यो आयोजना विल्ट अन अपरेट टान्सफर बुट प्रणालीअनुरुप ३० वर्षअवधिका लागि सरकारले सतलजलाई प्रदान गरेको छ । सहमतिअनुसार सतलजले आयोजनाबाट विद्युत् उत्पादन शुरू भएको मितिदेखि २१ दशमलव ९ प्रतिशत अर्थात् ८८ मेगावाट बिजुली सरकारलाई निःशुल्क उपलब्ध गराउने भएको छ । यसै गरी निःशुल्क उपलब्ध गराइने विद्युत् प्रचलित नीति तथा कानुनअनुसार सरकारलाई बिजुली बिक्रीबाट प्राप्त हुने रोयल्टी र निर्यात करको अतिरिक्त हुने भएको छ । यसै गरी अरुणको विस्तृत परियोजना अध्ययन (डीपीआर) तयार गर्न लागेको ४५ करोड १४ लाख रुपियाँ सतलजले सरकारलाई तिर्नुपर्ने, आयोजना विकास गर्दा प्रसारण लाइन तथा प्रवेशमार्ग सतलज स्वयम्ले निर्माण गर्ने सहमति भएको मन्त्रालयका सहसचिव उपाध्यायले नेपाल समाचारपत्रलाई जानकारी दिनुभयो।प्रस्तावित आयोजना सम्पन्न गर्न वित्तीयस्रोतको व्यवस्था गरेको ५ वर्षभित्र निर्माण सम्पन्न गर्नुपर्ने सहमति भएको उहाँले बताउनुभयो। उपाध्यायका अनुसार सतलजले अब अध्ययनका लागि विद्युत् विकास विभागमा आवेदन दिनुपर्नेछ।सतलजले नेपाललाई आवश्यक बिजुली प्रसारण लाइनको उपयुक्त स्थानबाट उपलब्ध गराउनुपर्ने, प्रचलित कानुनबमोजिम आयोजनाको वातावरणीय प्रभाव मूल्यांकन अध्ययन गर्ने सहमतिपत्रमा उल्लेख गरिएको छ।

काठमाडौँ - सरकार र संयुक्त लोकतान्त्रिक मधेसी मोर्चाबीच हिजो आठबुँदे सम्झौता भएपछि १६ दिनदेखि बन्द तर्राई आज बिहानबाट खुलेको छ । मोर्चाले बन्द फिर्ता लिई आज मधेसका जिल्ला सदरमुकाममा विजय र्यालीको आयोजना गरेको छ । आज इटहरी-विराटनगर सडक खण्डबाहेक अन्य सबै ठाउँमा यातायात सुचारु बनेको छ भने बजार र शैक्षिक संस्था खुलेका छन् ।

सुनसरीको दुहवीमा भने आज बिहान ९ बजेदेखि पुनः कर्फर्यु लगाइएको छ । कर्फर्युका बेला आन्दोलनमा मर्नेका आफन्त एवम् परिवारले प्रदर्शन गर्न थालेपछि दुहवीमा ९ बजेदेखि कर्फर्यु जारी गरिएको छ त्यस्तै आज मोर्चाका कार्यकर्ताले विराटनगर, महोत्तरी, धनुषा, सिरहा, सप्तरी, वीरगन्ज, कलैयालगायतका क्षेत्रमा खुसीयाली मनाउँदै विजय जुलुस निकाल्ने तयारी गरिरहेको छन्। सरकारसँग हिजो भएको आठबुँदे सहमतिको स्वागत गर्दै मध्य र पूर्वी एवम् पश्चिम तर्राईमा खुसीयाली मनाइएको छ । तर वीरगन्जमा भने बिहान मधेसी जनअधिकार फोरमबाट टुक्रेको भाग्यनाथ गुप्ता समूहले बजार बन्द आवान गर्दै सडकमा टायर बालेर प्रदर्शन गरेपछि ठाउँ-ठाउँमा प्रहरीसँग झडप भयो । आज ११ बजे मधेसी मोर्चाले निकाल्ने विजय जुलुसमा हस्तक्षेप गर्ने चेतावनीसमेत सो समूहले दिएपछि वीरगन्जमा व्यापक सुरक्षाकर्मी परिचालित गरिएको छ ।

आज नेपालगन्ज, भैरहवा, बुटवल, नवलपरासीलगायतका स्थानमा पनि विजय जुलुस निस्केको छ । पूवको झापा, इलाम, पाँचथरलगायतका क्षेत्रमा पनि आज सवारीसाधन चलेका छन्।

Record euro high worries exporters

Dublin- There are fears of job losses in Irish exporting companies, as the euro continues to strengthen against major currencies.
The small business lobby group ISME warned of a threat to jobs as the euro hit a new record today.
The euro hit 76.54p this afternoon, the highest level since its creation in 1999.

The British currency weakened on expectations that the Bank of England would cut interest rates again. Figures showing that UK house prices fell for the fourth month running and a weak report on consumer sentiment also affected sterling.
Against the dollar, the euro reached a record $1.5239 this morning before easing back to below $1.52 late today.
The US currency has fallen sharply in the last few days on increasing sentiment that the US economy could be set for a sharp slowdown - even recession - and that the US Federal Reserve will reduce interest rates.
At the same time, comments from ECB officials have dampened expectations of an early euro zone interest rate cut.

Unofficial Action to affect Rail Passengers

Dublin- Train passengers in Dublin, Cork and Kerry will be affected today by unoffical action by drivers with Iarn-rohd Eireann.Over the past couple of weeks drivers have refused to operate on services from Portlaoise and Carlow to Dublin.And today services in Tralee, Mallow, Galway and Dublin will all be affected.
