Five million mobile phones in use in Ireland

Dublin-There are now over five million mobile phones in use in Ireland, according to the latest figures. The latest report from the Communications Regulator has shown mobile phone users sent over 7.5 billion text messages last year.Total revenue for the communications market in 2007 was over €4.5bn.Broadband penetration was at just over 20% by the end of the year, despite the fact that broadband subscribers increased by over 11% to nearly 900,000 people.
