2007 Record Year for violent Deaths

Dublin- It's emerged that 2007 was the most violent year in the history of the State. A report in tomorrow's Sunday Business Post reveals that seventy three people have been violently killed in Ireland in the last 12 months - surpassing the previous record of 68 homicides last year. The last time so many people died violently in Ireland was during the Civil War in the 1920s.Gangland murders were down from 26 to 16 - but the number of fatal stabbings doubled from 18 to 36.
