Sixth SPA mass gathering in Nepalgunj today

NEPALGUNJ - The sixth joint-assembly organised by the ruling Seven Party Alliance (SPA) to publicise the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls is taking place in Nepalgunj on Monday.People and party members from Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Dang and other neighbouring districts are expected to attend the assembly taking place at the Tandon Rice Mill ground.
Leaders and members of the seven parties are entering the assembly venue with banners and party flags from the Puspalal chowk, Birendra chowk and Fultekra areas of Nepaljung. Dozens of buses have been sent to the village areas to ferry party activists and supporters to the assembly venue. The fifth assembly was successfully held in Janakpur on Saturday despite attempted disruptions from different agitating Madhesi groups and parties.

However, no such disruptions have been reported so far in Nepalgunj. About 3,000 security personnel have been mobilised to ensure security for the assembly, the district administration informed. The government has beefed up security in the wake of explosions and attempts to disrupt the assembly in Biratnagar and Janakpur. Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) is coordinating the Nepalgunj assembly. NWPP leader Narayan Man Bijukchhe, CPN-Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara and CPN-UML leader Bamdev Gautam among others are due to address the assembly. The SPA had decided to hold joint ass emblies in seven different cities of the country to campaign for the CA polls slated for April 10.
