Intercity Irish rail fleet to be launched today

Dublin- Irish Rail’s new €400m Intercity rail car fleet will be officially launched later today. The new 183-carriage fleet is set to be rolled out across the network throughout the year. The move follows the success of initial in-service trials on the Sligo-Dublin line, which has seen services increase from five to eight trains each way daily. The firm claims they will transform quality, comfort and frequency right across the national rail network, and deliver environmental benefits with reduced emissions.
